Overheated feet on Motortrike conversion of 2014 GW

I have a beautiful black on Black Motortrike Razor kit on a 2014 GW 1800. My issue is a ridiculous amount of heat being directed at my feet! The heat is so intense, even when traveling at a fairly high rate of speed, I cannot leave my feet on the normal foot pegs. The vents on the side APPEAR to be closed, although they do seem like they could be tighter? This is my 3rd Trike, but the first GW and the first with Aqua Shields/ Ground Effects/ Running Boards. I recently moved to Florida and had noticed the heat issue beforehand, but obviously a MUCH bigger issue here. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you answer your own question.
Your running boards are stopping the air flow. Add a set of Kury foot boards that attach to the engine guards.

Not a solution for the trike itself, but my feet stay much cooler since I got service boots with mesh paneled uppers. I have a pair of Brazo's 8" Service Boots from Academy Sports I like very much, so of course they changed suppliers and the replacements they sell now don't work for me. I picked up a pair of Bates which are very comfortable on and off the trike.

I have the exact some Trike. I live in South Central Texas and my feet never get excessive heat. I do notice if I ride with my arch on the pegs, my toes are directly under the motor and can fee the heat. I like to ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs and never feel the heat. I also have Ergo II highway pegs and that keeps your feet cool.

I have a '12 GW with the Razor and running boards.

With my toe warmers open, in the middle of July, my feet won't get hot.

Are you thinking at all about the Mid-America Gathering in Osage Beach?

Check the exhaust guards by the foot pegs. There should be a strip of rubber along the edge to keep the heat fom escaping. I left it off on one side after a repair and the heat was intense.

Just to mention I have a Motor Trike Adventuer kit on my 2010.
My left foots always toasty the right never??
I also did from day 2 take off the foot pegs and use only the floor boards.
I think the heat problems comes from a lack of foot room more then anything else.
With a GW your right on the sides of the engine with your feet for the most part.
If the bike were a few inches longer as in the seat being farther back.
I do believe ones heating issue would be over.
The GW is built for a less then average size guy in my opinion.
Its a squeeze for me to get a good seating position. I have longer legs then average for a guy my height.
If your under 5' 8". This bike should be a good fit is my belief.
I pity guys over 6 ft trying to ride this bike.
Im 5 10 and its the worst part of a GW for me. No leg or foot room.
Cramped feeling riding it.

I had issue on my previous 2005 trike of the left foot being hot. It was the gasket around the foot shifter had torn so a lot of hot air was coming out that hole

No, I already have a couple of weekend trips planned and then one big one. Big Bend, Palo Duro Canyon, then a good one to Monument Valley, Zion, Grand Canyon and then Sedona.

I'm 5'11" and I am comfortable. I have some good Ergo II highway pegs and it is awesome to stretch out and change positions. I can push up on those with the ball of my feet and get pressure off of my rear. Makes it easier to ride long distances for me.
