    Default A/C access

This is just a curiousity question but has anyone ever had to have the A/C worked on and if you did how hard was it to access? I don't recall anything like a kind of access plate or cover over or around that wheel well on the right rear tire area. I was just curious do they have to take the whole body off or is it separated in a front half / back half type of arrangement?

Or is it accessible from the trunk?

    Thanks,

    Dennis

it is not difficult to work on, not real easy in some areas but not difficult.
the compressor of course runs off the engine fan belt along with the alternator so it is located on the right side of the engine when you raise the hood, very easy to see.
the switches that operate the AC/heat are on the left of the steering wheel, they are the chrome switches below the radio control and the volt meter and the air pressure read out. now that panel pulls out, grab the fan switch or heat or AC switch and pull, shake it some and the top of that panel will pull loose and the panel will pull out. I do have a schematic of the AC/heat system which I can forward if someone would like it.
to check the freon pressure or to add freon pull the right rear wheel and you will see 3 chrome hoses/tubes front to back on the Stallion. the large one is antifreeze hose from the engine to the radiator located in the back below the trunk, the 2 smaller diameter chrome tubes is the freon lines and just in front of where the tire sets you will see where the gages go for checking the freon and in front of that you will see the low pressure switch/sensor for the freon.
one of the 2 fuse panels is below the drivers seat and the bar that goes from left to right right behind the fuse panel is where the 3 main relays for the AC/heat system, what you will see is 2 plastic ties, if you cut them the relays will fall down as they are below that bar.
the problem I had was the AC clutch would not pull therefor no cold air, the problem was the green wire that comes out of the fan switch goes over to the AC switch, after pulling the panel with the AC/heat switches I saw the wire was loose on the AC switch side, why it was loose is unknown as I had over 23,000 miles on the Stallion and had it for just over a year and had used the AC during the summer the year before. I have had the panel out because I wired the bike so the lights will not come on except if the key is on.
TBMS has had the panel out because the fan switch knob came loose and at this time I did not know how to pull the panel out to tighten the knob, so who messed or pulled the green wire off of the AC switch, it could have been me or it could have been TBMS and who cares cause the AC works now.
Nick at TBMS sent me the schematic to check things out instead of driving the 130 miles to Troup, TX. if I could find the problem it would save both of us time.

I would like to get a copy of the schematic if possible. Plpease send to jim-jellison@comcast.net Another A/C related question. Is the blower motor and heat exchanger accessible without removing body panels?

Silverdevil, I would very much appreciate that schematic if you could send it to me at cutlerdk@frontiernet.net. By the way that was very informative in describing how to access it...not easy...but at least doable.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis

the answer to the blower is when you pull the passenger back rest you can touch it on the right side above the gas tank. when you pull the right wheel you can get to the plug from the wiring harness and get to the blower, did not see if you could pull it or not without removing the body.
the heat exchanger, I know nothing!
all of those question you can call you have on the stallion you can call the 1-888-783-3348 number and ask for Nick and ask for the info, he will get it to you, he always has for me.

right now I am on a trip and when I get back to my desktop PC I can send the schematic for the AC. I will be back near the end of the month.

I am having trouble with my air cond. also. I have a 2010 and have about 400 miles on it. The other day I was riding and the air worked fine. Two days later I tried it and the air that comes out is just a little cool. The compresser comes on but the air doesn't get cold. Any idea of what is wrong.

Got my CB in and the air cond. fixed. It didn't have any freon in it. There was a ground wire that had come lose to the blower that comes on when the air comes on. It wasn't working and caused the lines to get hot and made the pop off valve to lose all of the freon out of the lines is what I was told. It has been working good since he hooked the ground wire up and add the freon back in it. Love driving it.
