Short story......Back in March, the first day I rode my "03 Gold Wing Trike since the winter here in Pa., a lone Doe decided to run, full bore, into the side of it. I went uninjured, but the Trike suffered cosmetic damage to the front cowling and the Trike body. I contacted my insurance company and was told to get an estimate, where else would I go but to my local Motor Trike Dealer in Leola PA. I was told that the work would take 3 to 4 days, and the estimate was all but $1700. After the second week, I was growing concerned and contacted Leola to find that someone had come in with no brakes, and someone else had blown a rear. OK, I thought, I'll give them a little more time. The 3 to 4 days turned into 3 weeks ! I went down to pick up my beloved Trike, and it was filthy, and hadn't been buffed out, which I was told the shop manager would come to my house and do it on Sunday, this was thrusday evening. I finally got around to washing the machine on Sat. and found that the truck lid had never been painted, and found numerous other things wrong. When the manager showed up on Sunday, I suggested he not bother getting his equipment out, and we needed to set another date for the Trike at the shop.
I was contacted on Monday by the shop owner, and he ask if I could drop the Trike off wed., I ask when would I get it back ? He then ask if I could drop it for tues. again I ask, when would I get it back? His reply was , when it's finish, He did however say it would have priority. OK, I dropped it off Monday eve. I called Friday, no it was not done. Now when I had dropped it off, I spoke with the shop manage, aka head machanic, and went over everything I had found wrong, I was told 2 days max. Friday when I called, I was told he would be in on Sat. to work on my Trike. Saturday when I called around lunch, he was working on a starter in a truck, in the parking lot. I called again on Wednesday, and spoke with the shop manager aka. head machanic, and ask what there was to do on it, then told him I would be down after work to pick it up, and hope that this time it would be right, and clean !
I picked up the Trike, and brought it home, everything seemed to check out. Today I waxed it for the first time sine it was repaired. I found overspray on the tour pack, front cowling, on the trike body and the rear wheels. Needless to sat, I am not a happy camper.
I retrospect, I would not, and will not take even my lawn mower to Leola Motor Trike, let alone my beloved Gold Wing. It is a real shame, I know for a fact that Leola had a great reputation at one time, and Ron Myer's was the man responsible for that. He built a good business because he did quality work, not quanity work. Ron is older now and doesn't spend alot of time in the shop area. It is a shame that the quality there has gone down hill.
All told, my rike was at the shop for all but 5 weeks, and it still isn't right !! Think about where you want to take yours when it needs repair, and invesstigate the shop before you committ !

Those voices in my head may not be real, but they have some really good ideas.
A good reliable shop that you trust(body and/or mechanical) is worth its weight in gold IMHO. There is a Motor Trike dealer less than 50 miles from us,but I take the trike to Amarillo(100 miles) to an independent shop for all my work.
