    Default '14 tri glide throttle return

    so i picked up a 2014 TG a week ago and i have to roll off the throttle it will not return to idle when i let go. any suggestions or advise?

    Engine cold/hot.... stock bars?? More info might help....

    All the time hot and cold and yes factory bars.

    No cable. I think its all "fly by wire". Might be a wiring issue. Or maybe in ECM.

    Still under warranty? That's what they are for. Even a TBW bike has a return spring, but I would have to look in my service manual (I have a '14) to see where it was. Dealer (and warranty) is your friend!

    Even if it is not under warranty, if you purchased it at a Dealership just a week ago, I would think they would make it right for you.

    If no warranty and a private purchase, the throttle is all electronic...no cables. I would check all the connections, use some dielectric grease, and see if that does not remedy it. Sometimes water will get in the connector, down at the throttle body, and wreak havoc.

    At the same time, check for error codes, they may point you in the right direction.

    If the throttle does go down when you move it by hand it isn't an electrical problem, it is a physical problem.

    Look at where the grip goes inside the brake/switch housing. There is a ring inside the housing that is part of the grip. It is to prevent the grip from sliding off the handlebars. If the housing is pulled to far forward rubbing the ring all the time it can't move freely.

    Start off just loosening the housing & slightly move it back toward the grip & see if that makes a difference. If not go ahead & remove the housing.
    First pull the brake lever slightly & insert about an 1/8" spacer to keep the lever pulled slightly to protect the brake switch. After you remove the housing, the throttle grip will slide off with just a slight pull. There is a sleeve inside the grip that snaps on the throttle unit in the handlebar.

    Check to make sure of the return of the throttle unit itself. It is spring loaded for the return. And make sure it is free. Make sure there isn't any drag on the handlebar by the grip assembly. It needs to be dry in there also.

    I had that problem on my FW..There was no play in the grip. It was binding on the housing. Should be slight [about 1/16"] in left to right movement.
