FLHTCU TG rear body on FLRT?

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the Freewheeler rear body with the rear from a Triglide, including the tourpak?? I like my 'Free so much I traded a Triglide for it and am 90% happy with it. But I cannot swallow (literally) and must "eat" a formula via a "PEG' tube. This means I have to carry a case or two of formula if I go on the road for a week or so, and I need room for it + the other stuff that one needs. I've even considered trading back, which'd cost about $10K, but can't see it when most my riding is only a day or two out. The alternative is a trailer but I've never pulled one with a bike and frankly do not relish the idea. So ... ???

Just a thought but is there any way to add a trunk on a free? Maybe someone more familiar can chime in here. I spent 10 months on a tube. For me it was only temporary while healing. Feel for you man. But hey, you're alive.

The 2014 and later TriGlide and the 2015 and later FreeWheeler use the same intermediate frame and rear body support bracket. This indicates they should interchange bodies. The tourpak needs to be purchased separately so you could just get a King tourpak and save some money. Due to the trunk operation of the FreeWheeler, a Tourpak would be tough to install and utilize.

You're not riding a two wheeler anymore so a trailer would most likely be the cheapest option. You probably wouldn't even notice the weight behind you all that much and would have more room than a TG trunk and tourpak.

You're not riding a two wheeler anymore so a trailer would most likely be the cheapest option. You probably wouldn't even notice the weight behind you all that much and would have more room than a TG trunk and tourpak.

True. I've just never pulled with anything but a truck so I'm spooky, no doubt needlessly. How does it work at modern highway speeds 70+? I try to avoid interstates but ...

Thanks. Afraid mine it forever. The top opening trunk lid prevents using a tourpak.

i thought about this a couple of years ago and everuyone thought i was nuts for bringing it up. i was thinking of maybe drilling holes in the top of the lid of the free and mounting a bracker that would accept the tour pack. now having the tour pack on a sliding bracket so you could slide if off to access the truck you be great. someone makes such a bracket in the aftermarket. may have to do a little reinforcing under the lid ,but i don't know. this way you can remove it when around home. i even thought about a fairing for one. in my mind it would be the best of both worlds. after my accident i was trying to come up with anyway i could to get back in the breeze and had alot of time to think about it. best of luck to you in doing this, but search for this bracket, it's out there .

I'm thinking maybe mounting brackets off to side of Freewheeler trunk lid and tour pak raised up enough to leave trunk accessible.

Hope you can figure out what you need to do. I pull a Starlight trailer with my 2009 Triglide. Have no problem whatsoever. Like they said you don't even know its back there.
Takes the mountains, twisty's, and highways just great. Even pulled it running 80 MPH around Atlanta just so we wouldn't get run over. Good luck in you finding a solution.

Maybe mount tour pack on L brackets, hinge top of bracket to sturdy backrest/sissy bar, mount clamps or ties to bottom of other end of brackets to match travel rack.

Tour pack would lift over backrest to allow access to trunk.

I have H-D's premium rack bag (PN 9330006) on a luggage rack atop the FLRT trunk lid that carries my oxygen bottle or concentrator. If I had a "TG" rear with tourpak it would go on the tourpac rack. I'll be in the local dealers getting "serviced" Wednesday and will check prices on parts needed to fit a TG rear. I think it'd look cool and bother the TG guys ;-). But I suspect that the price will be a heart stopper that , if I survive, will lead to a trailer as several suggested. Again thanks.

There are a lot of TriGlide bodies on eBay. That would be a good winter project and give you time to gather everything up.

Or, a trailer hitch and ice chest metal rack from WingStuff (for Goldwings).....the rack comes with a receiver-type that attaches to your hitch. Hope I explained it correctly....don't know how to insert the web page

Thanks. Something like this may well be the best solution. I'm thinking about installing a rear bumper or whatever Harley calls it, then tying something like this to it with heavy zip ties or hose clamps to avoid warranty hassles that go with trailer hitches. The outboard (rear) could be strapped up to the luggage rack. Otta be strong enough to support a bag of cloths are even a couple cases of my food. Thanks for the idea.
