V-8 Trike

"They look cool, but how cool would they be riding on a long road trip in the summer time."

Mine's cooler than my Harley was, way cooler than my Rocket 3. Unless you get stuck in traffic on a super hot day, but, what isn't hot at that point....

Road Trip

I have a Boss Hoss Trike and a Harley Triglide and I think my Boss is way cooler than the Harley, even in slow traffic because of radiator fan keeps Boss from overheating. The Triglide does have more creature comforts on long rides, plus Boss doesn't get very good gas mileage

Just for curiosity , what MPG does the Boss get?

It pretty much depends on the engine package. Our 2006 Boss Hoss 57 Chev trike with 385hp ZZ4 350ci sbc with optional Comp Cam upgrade,600cfm double pumper carb, and TH350 three speed auto, averaged around 16-20mpg on the highway. Trikes with the optional ZZ502 bbc (502hp) would see around 12-16mpg,highway. 2007 was the last year for the ZZ502. Boss Hoss switched to the all aluminum LS engines with sequential port fuel injection and computer controlled 4L70 four speed auto w/overdrive in 2012. The smaller 375hp 4.8 liter LS engines have seen mileage numbers over 30mpg. The optional 6.2 liter LS3 engines with 445-525hp ratings probably average around 22-28mpg.

As onebadeagle mentioned,Boss Hoss bikes and trikes run every bit as cool as a Harley. The only exception is in 100deg stop-n-go traffic.

Never rode one, but with 375hp it's got to be a rocket ship :AGGHH:
Noticed a lot of low mileage used ones for sale. Must be a love it or leave it trike. Almost - I mean Almost gota have one! Unless I get a demo ride to get the urge out of my system. I need another scoot like a brain tumor .

Mine is an LS3 445 with factory hot cam, supposed to be 485 hp. IF, you get on the interstate, you can run 70-75 mph for hours, and get 25-26 mpg. The problem is, any speed to 80 mph is a rush, and the more you play your gas mileage goes down. On mine, worst case is 16 mpg... I figure 20 for cyphering.

I think it's some comfort issues and more reliability issues. My personal opinion is the old owner just didn't care, had a take it or leave it attitude. I hope, and fully believe, the new owners are going to address the reliability issues, which will go a long way toward building the company.

"Unless I get a demo ride to get the urge out of my system."
Well, IF you get down to NEPA and IF my BH is in good working order, you can take it for a ride.... no biggie...

It's not a matter of need, It's a matter of WANT

I've owned both a Valkyrie and a Boss Hoss. Not much difference in gas mileage. The extra 4200cc's were noticeable, though.
