    Default 2 cable throttle questions...

    My Harley throttle has been very glitchy. The 2 cable throttle grip tube was jamming and broke. I did go and buy a new pair of hand grips.

    After opening the throttle mount, I see that the cables are not smooth looking at all. The pull cable is the best of the two. However, the return cable was all kinked up and frayed.

    I followed the cables down and the front cable does go correctly to the duel carb cross bar. But the second cable was just stuffed into the wire loom and hooked to nothing. So there was no pressure to return the throttle back to zero point.

    Where and how is this second return cable connected? Is this something I should be able to do? I really want a smooth throttle response! If it would be easier to explain, My home # is 509-533-1188

    The vw car only had a single cable with a spring as the return.
    Take the motorcycle return cable out completely so it dont ball up and hang.
    If you want a full motorcycle style dual cable system you will have to make it yourself. I have nevet seen a purchasable set up for a vw.
    I had a dual cable set up on mine that I made.
    I have now gone to a single cable set up.

    I removed the return cable last night. So much better! Today I will be looking at the local motor cycle graveyard. Time for new bars...

    The Harley has a "push/pull" cable system. Both cables hook directly to the same lever on the carb. On a VW you will only need the single pull cable.

    Today I had a custom made braided cable with the extra length for new pulled back handlebars. Smooth response now! TY

    I'm running a Weber 32/36 DFEV with a single cable. I've been through a few different set-ups, and haven't seen a need for a return cable yet. The throttle return springs on the carb seem to provide plenty of tension to return the grip to "rest" position. Just my 2 cents...
