    Default Alaska Trip on a Triked Wing?

    I am already starting to plan another bucket list job for 2017...making a trip to Alaska on my Triked Wing. Has anyone done a trip to Alaska on triked Wing and if so, other than wishing the Champion kit had an extra gas tank, is the Wing in a triked configuration a good vehicle for the trip?

    I rode there 2 years ago on a Harley Ultra. Saw lots of trikes of all kinds. Carry some extra gas but you most likely wont need it. It is truly the trip of a lifetime. I am going again in a couple of years either on a BMW dual sport or a wing trike. There is only one downside to that trip.....It makes you yearn to go again.

    Went to Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay last July on a GL1800 Roadsmith conversion and pulled a Time Out trailer, except for some road repair on the Alcan and it is always under repair it handled it well, the 3 wheels came in handy on the Dalton Hwy ( in the Mud ) to stay upright. I won't say it and you won't take a beating and it's not for the faint of heart.......but I would recommend it. !!!

    By the way it was my second time and the first time was on 2 wheels and the Alcan was only paved in the towns.

    I just purchased the Rotopax 1 Gal for my trip to Florida this year. It fits perfectly on the side wall of the Champion Kit. I put some industrial velcro on the side of the Rotopax to attach it to the sidewall. I lose about 3 inches of space in the trunk area but have the assurance of another 30-35 miles should I run out of gas.

    I've never been, but I've talk to several guys that did make that trip and their advise was the same......If you like your Trike pristine and not with scratches and nixs, don't make the trip. Just what I've been told, and in a couple of cases, have seen.

    2013 we went to Alaska on our Honda GW Trike I would recommend you put the front fender extension on and a bottom plate to protect the bottom of the Honda.. The heaves in the road are hard to see but you will know when your in them they can be a hole/trench or high spots in the road drive with care....I carried 2 gallons of gas and used it and almost ran out of it...travel safe better to have extra gas than not..

    Did the ride to Alaska in 2011 but didn't include the Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay sections.
    Having researched it previously I didn't wish to trash the trike or trailer. Other than long sections of road works, permafrost ridges and dust, the Motortrike IRS was a superb vehicle to do it on. Don't travel at high speeds and you will have time to see what the road conditions are like. At the time we where doing it two solo riders where badly injured due to road damage. I did run out of gas twice but my buddy had an extra fuel tank which we could transfer fuel from, so having an extra gallon of fuel could be handy. We also camped most of the time expecting to be attacked by mosquitoes but in fact this wasn't the problem we thought it might be. Rain! we had loads! but it was still a great ride. Next time we ( wife and I) hope to do the full journey using a off road hack.
