If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
Thanks for that view Sully, hope to ride it during the Maggie Valley get-together, looks like a lot of fun.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting...Holy Sh!t What a ride!

Yeah, and you can see all the traffic on it...mostly cagers. And there are still idiots on bikes that will run around blind curves on the wrong side just to try to get through it and set their own personal 'record'.
Sounds like a good way to get killed to me.
Nice pic Sully, thanks for posting it. I'd never seen it from above.

I don't think that's the dragon.

I think there was a post on facebook about this last week. That was a picture of a road in Japan if I remember correctly.

No problem Sully, ray6576 is correct... It is a pic of the Irohazaka Road in Nikko, Japan...
"I don't need a map. I still have a road in front of me!"
There are pics on the net that say it is the W Road on Signal Mountain near Chattanooga, TN but that is wrong. The W Road only has three switchbacks (hairpins) hence the name "W"...

Google can lie(woulda thunk). The picture Sully posted can be found as a representation of the Dragon Tail. Easy mistake to make.
This one is pretty sweet!

To bad "tail of the dragon" has gotten as big as it is now and has more than ruined the reason I loved to go there several times a year.....a great ride on a really twisty road with no connecting roads or driveways for over 11 miles. The old schooler's (early 90's) knew the place as simply "deals gap" but that was back when Pete owned the store/gas station and the few rooms that you can rent. It was just a small place that you could get a cold drink a sandwich and the usual T-shirt......not the huge place that it has become. Maybe 129 has become it's own monster with being advertised in every magazine and all over the web which draws in every Johnny Road Racer in a 1000 mile radius to come and try to set their own personal best time across the mountain. If you want to try and throw your bike and yourself off the mountain go for it but don't hurt or kill someone else in the process.
