Ride Safe.
Ma and I were about 1700 miles into a 2300 mile trip when I tried to back out of a parking space with a disc lock still on the front disc brake. As soon as the bike stopped I knew what I'd done. Got off and took the lock off and every thing LOOKED ok. But as I pulled away from the parking spot I tried the front brake and had to pump the lever to get a solid brake handle. And had to do this every time I needed to stop all the way home for the next 600 miles. I stayed way away from any traffic ahead of us and didn't have any problems all the way home. Took it to my locale shop the next morning and it only turned out to be a bent rotor. He took off the caliper on that side and spun the wheel and it was easy to see how badly bent it was. Fortunately a few weeks earlier a woman wanted a chromed front end with chrome discs also put on her bike so I picked up a practically new disc for $50 and $20 to mount it. At a Harley shop I'm guessing the disc would have been at least $140 and $90 to mount it. I must have been livin right lately.

I bet you won't do it again We all learn from our mistakes and hopefully don't repeat them. Ride safe and have fun!
OUCH!!! That's why they make those brightly colored lanyards you can attach to them. They remind you to take the damned thing off before pulling away. You need to get one!
Here. $3.28 well spent.

Welcome o the Human Race ... we all make the silly mistakes ... just most of us aren't brave enough to admit it and let others learn from it ..
Glad you got fixed up with out having to "dig too deep" and managed to have a safe trip home.

At least you didn't put the lock on backwards with the keyhole toward the wheel! A friend of mine did that, and then had no room to put the key in the lock. He had to grind all but 1/4" off the (handle) end of the key and use needle nose pliers to put the key in and turn it.

I thought about getting one of those, but I am sure I would do the exact same thing while traveling. Safer for me not to have one. Glad it was not to costly for you.

Been there, done that...once. I never used a lock on the wheel again. I do lock the forks with the ignition key.
Good to know, never thought about that.
