I need to remove or at least raise the fuel tank to run stereo wires to the back of my FW. Has anyone done this and does anyone have any tricks or advice on how to do this? Thanks in advance.

As long as you are mechanically inclined it is a pretty easy job. It would help if you had a service manual. The fuel line has a quick disconnect. If you push up on the outside of the connector it will release from the tank just like removing an air hose from a compressor with a quick release. Just watch and take photos and you won't have any problems. I can remove my tank in less than 5 minutes. Here are the pages from my manual that tells how to do this.

Thanks so much, I appreciate the info. I don't think I'll have any problems.
I'm with Scuba on this one. I was hesitant to remove mine for some work but after reading the book, it was a piece of cake! No Problem!

Just to let you know, I completed my project of installing a stereo on my FW with no problems at all. Removing the tank was probably the easiest part thanks to the info I got on here from you guys. Now I have tunes as I cruise down the road and all for less than a hundred dollars. Can't beat it. Thanks again.
