Default Hi from Las Vegas

Hi from Las Vegas. I have had my 2008 Electa Glide Classic for two years and like it very much. Recently I have decided to make the conversion to a trike. We have a Motor Trike dealer in town and will most likely go that direction. I would appreciate any advice on options, etc.

Thanks in advance,
Welcome aboard Dave. Having rake installed at the same time is a great consideration. Makes the trike much easier to steer. Allow yourself about 400 to 500 miles to get real used to the trike. Having a GOOD local installer is very important. Someone that will work close with you and be there if you have issues.

Good advice, make sure U get a chance to ride several differnet brands of trike kits.. they all are different.. Motor trike might be the best one for U do to location but U might not like the ride. Everyone is different as to what they like or dislike about the rides.
Welcome Dave! We bought our trike used, but it has the Motor Trike conversion and we love it. Hubby says it rides a little better when I'm with him, but no major complaints. That's all I have to offer, but hope it helps! Good luck and welcome!

Hi!! Welcome! My only son lives in Henderson! If you don't mind, let me give you one HUGE piece of advise. Please do your homework on the installer you intend to use. Yes, they all look good, and for the most part ride great. But the mis-adjustments and sloppy work will raise its ugly head in short order. There are only a few guys out there who give a crap if the thing falls apart in a year. Also, the "after the sale" treatment of customers with issues is VERY lacking, once the warrentee is out. MotorTrike seems to keep engineering exellent conversions, but it is the guy in the shop building YOUR trike that you should be talking to.

If he contridicts what you think is common sense, run Forrest, run!!!

I love my motortrike, but I have to say if it wasn't for my friend Randy at Adventure trikes, I could have been in a crash due to the builders sloppy work. It took me a year to get the rear suspension adjusted even close to how it is supposed to be set up.

A ton of trial and error is needed, unless you want to strip down the whole thing and start over. Don't let me turn you off with MotorTrike, they are a blast and danged near bullet proof. But if you get a sloppy, or rush job, you will be in for alot of the same problems. Those include: Pulling to the right, or left way too hard, bottoming out, leaking air suspension, pinched wire harnesses, broken fasteners, and a plethera of misery. So what I'm trying to say is, if you don't feel good about the installer, go elsewhere. JMHO jimsjinx

Hi from Vegas i have a dft would be glad to let you ride it. I found DFT on line. I have had no trouble with it and it requires no modification to the bike. It's very easy to install. Your beautiful bike can be triked the rear end for the HD uses the factory belt drive.
welcome aboard-
love your city! have visited there several times, someday, hopefully on our trike! all the info you have received is 100% correct. your dealer will make all the difference, as ALL the kits are good.(all the kits can also be bad, if you have an inept installing dealer)
good luck, and keep us informed

Hey, Aces -- Jimsjinx does NOT speek with forked tongue! Be careful who you get to do your conversion. There are several builders in our area. Check them ALL out before you put green on the counter. If you want a look at a Ultra / Roadsmith let me know. Check with Grampadonut on here if you want to see a Road Glide/Lehman. There's another LV member here who has a CSC -- think it's on a 'Wing. Triwinggirl has already told you about her DFT. We're ALL in the 'Vegas area. She did the conversion on her's & I did the conversion on mine -- it's not that hard to do, but there are only a few kit suppliers who'll let you DIY -- DFT, Roadsmith & I think Champion and a couple of others. 'Course, since mine ia a Roadsmith I think it's best. Triwinggirl had a DFT, so it's best for her & Nana here has Champion, so it's best for her -- ALL three are good good -- and there's nothing wrong with the Motortrike conversion IF it's installed right. IF you start thinking about doing your own install, I'd be glad to give you a hand. I'm a retired Heavy Equipment mechanic, so I do know the difference between a screw driver & a monkey wrench.

NM, I would like to see your Ultra / Roadsmith. And I agree that checking out all the builders in the greater Las Vegas area is necessary. I have only taked to the Motor Trike dealer. If you know who the other ones are, could you send me the list?

    Thanks,
    Dave

WELCOME to TRIKE TALK......I have a Motor Trike IRS on my Gold Wing, and really love it. Definetly check out the various Dealers in Your Area if You choose to go that route. Great Dealers/Installers are just that, others are to be avoided. You'll catch on to "Trike Piloting" in no time....I love "3-over-2" now.....:wtg:
