What was up with the teepee's acrossed the river in post #217 in the pic labeled "A look back- Wow!"? Maybe Red Cloud or Dull Knife's camp?

    ?????

They were just there. Looked like a great place to set-up...except for the railroad track right next to them.

    Day 28-

We are in Loveland, CO. Last night the GPS took us to the "Super 8", but it was not a Super 8 anymore...plus it was filled up, no vacancy, something to do with the antique car convention.

We rode down the road a little, looking for a motel. Found a nice, clean older place, where you can still park at the room door. The Rosebud Motel.

Called Scott and let him know where we were.

He said he and Karin would be here at 9AM ready to roll!

Sure enough, they had a 2 hour ride to get to us, and here they are!

Working our way thru the traffic lights in Loveland...

...headed for Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Winding thru this canyon was a blast!

This first taste of Colorado beauty has us anticipating the next few days!

    Getting close to Estes Park...

...we really don't know what we're in for.

Mary saw the Trail Ridge Road on a map and said she wanted to go there. We did not look at any photo's, I just let Scott know that is one of the places we wanted to go. Such wild beauty, this is a Great way to start the day!

The TRR has a peak elevation of 12,183 feet and is inside the Rocky Mountain National Park. Trail Ridge Road is one of ten America's Byways in Colorado and a national designated All American Road, and now we're here!

We went just a bit inside the park, following Scott & Karin....

...just in the little bit they we've been riding with them, I like Scotts' riding style. Easy to follow, and he likes the curves!

We pulled over, and he stowed his helmet. When in National Parks, this is something Mary and I do frequently also. Our experience has been that National Park roads are very nice, speeds are moderate, and the cages are very predictable.

    More in next post.

    Day 28 Continued-

We went up the road a bit and stopped at a scenic lookout...climbed out on some rocks...

...and saw just a tiny bit of the vast wilderness that was yet to come.

We started out around 7700 feet elevation, but we have been climbing steadily when we see this sign.

Looking off the edge of the road, we see 4 sections of road we have already traveled.

    I don't have a seat belt!

Only reason I can think they put that sign there is that there is very little to keep one from going off the side of the road, and it is a many thousand feet drop to the bottom.

We're climbing pretty steady, and around every corner are magnificent views!

Around this corner an elk, with a large rack, came down the hill, onto the road, and stopped. Karin reaching up to get a photo-

Then another one came down and took his time getting off the road also.

WOW! We are almost above the treeline now.

I don't know how long it is going to take to post up pics from today...this is just the beginning.

    More coming soon.

    Day 28 Continued-

We're still climbing in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Not knowing what is around every corner...

...and being blown away by the views (and the drop-offs, I bet those cagers aren't texting now, while riding so close to the edge )....

    ...what a great road!

    A look back-

    A look ahead- WOW!

Following Scott & Karin into a scenic pull-out.

    Yep Scott....

    ...that's a Long ways down!

    A marmot out looking around.

    More in next post.

    Day 28 Continued-

Back on the road, still climbing, we are well above the treeline now.

The views are incredible. Mary picked a good road on the map!

Mary in the mirror. For a while we've been thinking "we're at the top now", but we keep climbing & it just keeps getting better!

Pretty close to the top now, we are in a scenic pull-out...

    ...contemplating creation.

Photo, courtesy of a helpful Park Ranger-

Back on the road. Some elk pretty close to the edge of the road.

Mary taking a pic of Karin, who's taking a pic of some elk.

    WOW!

    Following Scott thru a switchback.

There are still hundreds of photos, just from today that I have to sort thru and pick which ones to post.

    More coming soon.

    Got 2 questions for ya'll:

Do either of you ever have problems with the high altitude - such as headache, light-headed, etc.

What was the temperature you were riding in at that altitude that would keep that much snow still on the ground?

(You are talking to a Texas girl where we are going on the 2nd week of triple-digits - 106 again yesterday)

Just want to say thanks for taking me places I'll never get to go on the trike. I absolutely LOVED the Bela Cula trip. Take care... Carla

When looking at the pictures, I had to go turn the A/C down so I could feel the cold. Triple digits just will not go away and are expected for the next few weeks. Have a blast. Jim

Hi Carla, glad you are enjoying the Ride Reports! Have you seen the Alaska one? (LINK to it)

Regarding the high altitude. We carry a little bottle of "oxygen drops". These can be added to water and increase the amount of oxygen in your system, to make up for the lower oxygen in the air. These can be had at any health food/vitamin store. We discovered these about 15 years ago and have had zero issues with altitude. Mary just puts a few drops in our water bottles, they are tasteless. Also, regardless of the oxygen drops, it is important to drink a lot of water at higher altitudes.

Regarding temps, at the bottom, in Loveland it was in the 90's, but up top it was in the low 50's.

You chose a perfect environment for such contemplation.
I can't express in words fitting enough to say how you two have superbly organized your journey via the narratives and pictures. It has been a wonderful experience with every posting and the second best experience one can enjoy aside from being along for the ride. You two are an awesome couple.

    Day 28 Continued-

I am short on time, so only 10 pics today. Might be a few days before I can post more...we'll see.

    A look to the side....WOW! ...

...A look ahead, the rain is still a bit off, wondering if we'll be riding in it.

A look behind. Yeah, that's a near straight drop-off. Eeek!

Almost to the Alpine Visitor Center.

Here we are. Lot's of interesting stuff inside. Elevation is 11,798 ft. It is completely buried under snow a good part of the year. It is completely self-sufficient, not connected to the outside world at all.

We're headed down now, looks like we will be ahead of the rain.

This place is just amazing, glad we got to visit, and ride it with Scott & Karin.

We're back in the trees now...

...this is a fun road, and the scenery is unbelievable!

Ran into a bit of a traffic jam...these cages can't go around the corners too well. lol

That's ok, taking our time, taking in all the views.

Although, Scott and I did talk about how it would be nice to run this road one day with no cars on it.

    More coming soon.

is it possible for you to send me a detailed list of everything you have done to your tri to make it run as well and as cool as it does. I have a 2015 freewheeler which runs pretty hot. It is stock exept for external breathers and cannon screaming eagle exhaust.
    Thank You

"As we were warming up Mary took a pic. The TG is running great! I'm also getting used to the quieter exhaust. 45 mpg over the last 80 or so miles. Can't complain about that. About half at 45 mph, and half at 65 mph, pretty much the same amount of uphill as downhill."

Ive read all your threads up to this point and tried to digest all the info. What is the exact configuration of all Your mods at this point that have given you this result? I have a 2016 Tri-Glide that Im ready to start modifying.
