Day 11 Part I-
Today we rode over to Bryce Canyon. What an amazing place.
Just doing part of our time at Bryce today, and will finish the report tomorrow.
Here we are going thru one of the arches a bit before the entrance to the park.
We're HERE....
At the first stop parking lot I see these two Honda 90's. Wow, what memories those brought back. Thousands of hours of spent riding a few different trail 90's, and even though they look smaller now than they did when I was 11, they sure brought a smile to my face. I wanted to hop on one and get in the dirt. lol
...our first stop is Inspiration Point...
...photo's do not do justice....
...to how big And intricate this landscape is.
Mary, thoroughly enjoying the park.
Bryce Point is closed for some work...but there was so much we did not feel like we missed anything.
Getting back on the TG to go further into the Park. Wow, it is dirty! We have about 3000 miles on the clock since we left, but all the bugs and most of the dirt got washed off in the downpour and hail coming into Denver. The only thing I've taken the time to clean each day is the windshield.
I will continue the report on Bryce Canyon tomorrow.

Day 11 at Bryce Canyon Part II -
Got 20 more shots I picked out from our day at Bryce. They are not necessarily in order (taking pics with 3 different cameras, and the hoodoos started looking the same after looking thru over 400 pics).
That is a LONG ways down!
This place is massive!
Natural Bridge...
...and Mary at Natural Bridge.
We watched these pronghorns for a while. The babies were so new they were still all wobbly when they walked.
Mary at....
...Fairview Point. Even at this elevation is was in the high 80's.
She beat me back to the Trike.
Just amazing the endless sights...
...the road was fun too!

Day 11 continued-
The roads were well maintained, and even with speed limits of 35-45, still a lot of fun to ride. Although, it would be fun to rip thru them with no speed limit.
Wow, everywhere we looked, amazing!
This is a guy we've been seeing on the road on his Softail for the last couple of days. That is a helmet under there, never saw him without it, even walking around Bryce. Mary asked him for a pic.
Ended up chatting with him and a couple of folks he was riding with. They gave us some good info for our ride up to Idaho.
Black Birch Canyon
Me at BBC
Mary looks so serious.
Cloud pic-
There are 5 deer in this pic-
Another cloud Pic-
The TG is running great. We ran about 100 miles, half of them around 65 mph, the rest at 35-45, with a ton of starts and stops. Round trip, so same up & down hills, same headwind/tailwind. Just under 41 mpg, running a cool 207* at 65 mph in 91* ambient.
I'm pretty happy with all the things we have done to get good power, good MPG and running cool.
Tomorrow is a big day, so might not have time to do a Ride Report. Will definitely be doing one day after tomorrow.

Day 12-
We rode from Hatch to Zion National Park, about 55 miles each way.
We spent most of the day there. It is different than the other parks we've been to so far. Instead of riding to look-out points (looking down into canyons), at Zion most of the riding is done in the canyons.
Here we are on our way there-
Looking back at Hatch-
Entering the Park-
Almost right away we pass this very unique looking hill (mountain?)...
...looking up at it as we ride by. Crazy!
All thru the park the roads are a reddish color.
Coming up to what I would normally call a long tunnel, but compared to what is down the road a bit, this is a short tunnel.
The roads are pristine, very smooth and...
...Views everywhere. Fun to ride, even at the park speeds.
Here is a LONG tunnel. 1.1 miles Long. Under who knows how many millions (billions?) of pounds of rock!

Wow! That is some cool scenery.
You are right you don't want to speed there is so much to see around every corner.
Stallion #406 // 2013 Tri-Glide
Day 12 continued-
This is in the 1.1 mile Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel. I believe it was built in the 1920's...
...Every little ways there is a "window"...a hole in the tunnel to the outside.
Looking out one of them as we ride by...
...and looking out the largest one as we ride by...no stopping in the tunnel.
Once out of the tunnel there is a long series of switchbacks down to the canyon floor.
Looking back up at the side of the mountain, you can see a hole...that is the large window in the tunnel that Mary took the picture out of.
Breathtaking views everywhere we look...
...and we are still following the switchbacks to the bottom.
I should have counted them, but there are a bunch...
Here's a fellow traveler making is way up toward the tunnel.
Still headed down, enjoying the road and the views!

Day 12 Continued-
Once we get to the bottom, we find the motorcycle parking. From here, to see the rest of the park there is a shuttle that you can ride to the Riverside Walk.
The Riverside Walk is how you get to the "narrows".
Here we are on the shuttle bus, taking a pic thru the sunroof.
Along the way there are 8 scenic stops where you can get off the shuttle for however long you want, and then get on the next on that comes by. We got off here and sat under this tree and ate the lunch we had brought along.
This is a panoramic shot, it may look better if you click on it to see it.
Here we are down at the Riverside Walk. We did not walk to the two miles up the river to where the narrows began. We just enjoyed the views at the river...
...this is another panoramic shot down at the river. It really does not do justice to the canyon bottom...
...so here are a few more shots looking up from the river. A couple of the west side...
...of the canyon walls.
And a partial view of the east side of the canyon.
Watching the water flow by, just enjoying the cool canyon.
We spent well over an hour down there, but too soon it was time for the 40 minute shuttle bus ride back.
Pic from the shuttle bus window-

Day 12 Continued-
Back at the bike, getting ready to head out...
...Even after 5 pm, it is still warm!
Headed back up the hill toward the tunnel...
...Starting the switchbacks...
...this is a really fun road, not only for the views, and the curves, but also for such a great surface.
Still climbing. Since I did not count the switchbacks, I just did a google search, thinking I might easily find how many there are...no luck...there are a Bunch!
Looking down at one of them.
Headed back thru the tunnel.
I really like how the road just winds between/thru these rock protrusions, it's a very cool feeling...
I really like this road and this park. Mary has said it is her favorite NP.

Day 12 Concluded-
A view from outside the curve as we approach it...
...and a view from inside the curve as we enter it.
Shadow pic as we're rolling down the highway back to Hatch-
We're close now. Those mountains on the horizon are the outside edge of Bryce.
Back at the Galaxy of Hatch, biker motel...there are 4 new bikes that showed up while we were gone.
After getting back, Mike asked me to look at a bike a Customer brought in today for him to finish building it out. Very cool looking project. Mike has his work cut out though...the reason the guy stopped is because he got frustrated putting a bunch of mis-matched parts together that just were not going to work.
It's gonna be a nice ride when he's done with it.
Here are a couple of Mikes shop bikes...
Very cool that right next to the motel is this shop with a good selection of parts and tools, a true bike shop.
I wish I would have taken more pics of the other bikes in the shop. Next time.
What a great day in Zion, finished up with messing around with some bikes in the shop.
