GPS trouble?

I've had two gps units on my trike now, both have went black after being in the sun I guess. Worked for a few weeks, They talk to me but screen is black. I only used them so far as just my speed-o. Anybody else having that trouble. Or what ones are best as my Garman don't seem to be. Thank You.

If you're not using a weather tight GPS, probably what you'll end up with. I have a Garmin 550 I've had since they came out ... never had an issue, rain or shine.

Have you checked the screen adjustment, maybe some how it went out and dimmed to black I have 2 Garmins for years, no problems. This one is mounted on a Ram Mount with a cover along with my XM Radio. Think I got the covers from RevZilla.

I too have had my Garmin for 6 years in the Cars, Motorcycles, Speed boat, Bicycle and now the Trike.

Hello, If you only use it for a speedo, you might look at Trail Tech. They have GPS and magnet speedometers and they are a bunch cheaper than a Garmin. Their easy to mount and have real good customer service. I have been using the lowest price one they sell for about a year for 15k miles rain and shine with no problems. The units are a lot smaller than a GPS but the info is big enough to see even for an old fella.

I like my Garmin,
It works nice.
I got the case from Ebay

BUT.....

If my Garmin ever goes out I think I will just use my phone.
I will make some type of new bracket and keep it in a water proof case.
A iPhone or Android can do everything my Garmin can and more. All in 1 device

And I due for a new phone soon (company pays for it)
