I hope PEETA doesn't give ya any guff. We'd of like'd to have been able to take our dog along but she was too big. Good luck with your 'experiment' for lack of a better word and what's his name?

Hi guys,
Happy days here. I'm getting a new little puppy I would like to start out right and teach him to like riding in a carrier on the passenger seat of my Tri Glide. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to accomplish this? I have a Kuryakyn Pet Palace on order.
Thanks for any ideas.

Can't help with the training, but..congratulations and good luck!
Thanks guys.
He's a little mini doxie. We're still finalizing the name. Pick him up tomorrow evening. If he never rides, that's OK. We'll take it slow and see what happens.
Tried to take my girlfriend's dog for a ride on the back of the trike several times. Put the little dog in a dog carrier and put it on back of luggage rack. Every time little max saw somebody with his head off out of the Carrier he barked like crazy had to stop every 25 miles of the dog went nuts. Finally convinced her that Max would not be good on motorcycle.
Get them used to the trike first while it is not running .. the spend some time around it running .. then do the ride. My one eyed Yorkie likes to see so the carrier was out ... this is how he rolls.
He would only need a 'doggle'.

Thanks for this. We miss our Aussie puppy so much and now our Lab is not well. She's 12 years old, blind and she needs a shot twice a day for diabetes. In the past couple of days she has gotten very weak and she's not eating very well. My poor old sweet puppy girl.
I'm looking forward to some lighthearted puppy playfulness.

I'm still looking for a solution to take my 91lb pup on my trike.

Hope to get my pup on mine!
The best time to accustom a pet to a motorcycle is when it is very young. The longer you wait, I believe, increases the difficulty, although not impossible.

Years ago, I had a young Boxer named Sully ( best dog I ever had). One day my buddy Weed came over to show me his new Softtail. We looked it over and then went into the garage for a couple beers. When he was ready to leave, I didn't notice Sully right behind the bike sniffing the pipes. Weed started up the bike, cracked the throttle; the pipes roared and poor Sully almost jumped out of his skin. The poor dog would never again get within 20 feet of a bike. I guess the moral is start him young but don't scare him.

Years ago we had a guy in our Gold wing group that had a dog and wanted to take it everywhere. He bought a trailer for his bike and modified it with a camera and a fan so the dog could be with him and his wife on rides. He took the dog everywhere.
Later on when he was serving his sentence in prison his wife divorced him and got custody of the dog. He never took the dog riding again since his motorcycle had been sold but he did receive weekend visits with the pup. I guess the moral of the story is don't embezzle funds or you'll lose your bike and your pup. ( Not sure the wife was much of a loss)
This is Wiley. He's a mini dachshund.
I saw some where ... on this forum I think ... where some one bought an extra lid for the top case on their wing, cut a hole in it and put hose around the cut. The dog could then ride in the top case.
