Installed Rivco Rack Pack
Love the FW but needed more luggage capacity for trips. I had a Rivco rack and bag in the garage that I bought a few years ago so I fabricated some mounting brackets similar to a trailer hitch set-up and installed it on the FW. Not heavy enough to pull a trailer but plenty strong enough for the rack. Between the trunk luggage rack and this rack we should have enough luggage capacity. Not very good pictures but was hurrying before it got dark.

Good Job Danny! It carries nice and high so low dips won't be a problem either.. You and Pat will make good use of that I hope.

Thanks Jerry. I may have to leave the bag off and mount an air conditioner until the weather cools off. Rode a couple of hundred miles on Sunday and felt like I was riding in a convection oven by the time I got home!Originally Posted by Gold Rush

I hear ya Brother, it was hitting 103 to 104 degrees here yesterday on my ride home from a little tour I did. It is suppose to hit 108 today, will see.

Been pretty darn toasty up my way also. We are use to the heat but this humidity is about to beat me down!!! Not that I'm wishing we did not get the rains this spring but man does it ever get sticky these days!! Maybe by October it will cool down..

Jerry is sure right about the humidity in west Texas.
We are not accustomed to this continued high humidity.
When you get out of a shower and can't dry off .... Geezsh!
Plus, it is harder to breathe - think we need some gills.
Can't see how you humid dwellers stand it.
However, we are ever so thankful for as much rain as we can get!
I can see your license plate from behind. I have wanted to mount a rack on my trike for quite a while and I'll probably do it eventually, but my plate is in the center of the trunk. Those like me need to check with our individual state to see how they interpret any laws pertaining to obscuring readability of license plates. I think some states changed their laws because of the inability to read plates when going through toll plazas controlled by cameras. I know when the amended law went into effect in Texas, they were writing tickets frequently for license plate frames covering parts of the numbers. Lately, though, I haven't seen that kind of activity. I would think that law enforcement would have a hard time making a "bag covering a license plate" a violation. I have heard of bicyclists being ticketed for racks obscuring the plate. I think on handicap carts mounted on the back of vehicles they had to relocate the plate if it was blocked by the cart.
FYI
In May 2003 the Texas state legislature passed SB439, a bill relating to motor vehicles with altered or obscured license plates. The bill went into effect on 1 September 2003.
The purpose of the law was to make it illegal for the operators of motor vehicles to obscure the letters and numbers on their license plates by applying reflective material that makes plates hard to read, or by affixing stickers, attaching brackets, or using any other material that covers up a portion of the license numbers on the plates or otherwise obscures clear reading of the plate numbers.
A 2007 revision (SB369, effective 1 September 2007) alters the "obscured plate" portion of the law to read:
A person commits an offense if the person attaches to or displays on a motor vehicle a number plate or registration insignia that:
has [letters, numbers, or other identification marks that because of] blurring or reflective matter that significantly impairs the readability of the name of the state in which the vehicle is registered or the letters or numbers of the license plate number [are not plainly visible] at any time [all times during daylight];
has an attached illuminated device or sticker, decal, emblem, or other insignia that is not authorized by law and that interferes with the readability of the letters or numbers of [on] the license plate number or the name of the state in which the vehicle is registered; or
has a coating, covering, [or] protective material, or other apparatus that: (A) distorts angular visibility or detectability; [or] (B) alters or obscures one-half or more of the name of the state in which the vehicle is registered; or (C) alters or obscures the letters or numbers of [on] the license plate number or[,] the color of the plate[, or another original design feature of the plate].
Due to all the rain we've had,the humidity here in North Texas has been much higher than normal. However,I don't think the temps have hit 100 degrees yet,which is unusual for this area,this time of year. A few moments ago,the temp outside was only 90 degrees.
