    Default New to Trike riding

Thank you for the add. I never knew how hard it was going to be to switch from two to three wheels. I've had my Triglide about 3 weeks and have yet to get used to turning and feeling every uneven spot in the roads. I can only hope it gets better from here. Any suggestions on how to overcome this would be greatly appreciated.

It will take some time to get used to the lateral forces of trike riding. Gyroscopic precession also comes into play and holding the handlebars through the turn is required. The most prominent part of getting used to is the size of the rear end. Be aware of this when gassing up. Good luck in your endeavor and I hope you enjoy the world of three as much as me and the wife.

Its just about impossible to avoid most pot holes and sunken manhole covers and construction cuts with a 3 track vehicle.. You hit some and you miss some Been riding street trikes for 8+ years.
When i drive though the center of my town with the Trike and trying to avoid one manhole cover' i'm then lined up to hit the next one....But like today ridding though town with my Victory i can miss every one with very little input on the bars. That same stretch of road is like silk on two wheels..
There are some trade off with Trikes...

Its not the pot holes Rhino, its just the feeling I am not in control. Been on 2 wheels for 40+ years I can see its just going to take some getting used to.

    Thanks for your input.

Welcome from New Mexico. Time will improve the feel. The thing that helped me the most was adjusting the air pressure in the tires and shocks. I keep the front tire at 36, rear tires at 24. I also installed the DK Customs, comfort lift and now I keep the rear shocks around 24. Jim

Doing so is the best way to improve your ride at zero cost out of your pocket. I keep mine at half the pressure called for on the rear tires. You have a lot less weight than a four wheel vehicle on those tires.

Don't rush it but enjoy the transition. Some people take to trikes like a duck to water. Others take longer. A very few never do. I rode bikes for over forty years before switching to a Boss Hoss trike. Sold it six years later and a year afterwards,we purchased a H-D Street Glide but I just couldn't find the passion for two wheels again. So,six months later,it was converted to a trike by Cut-N-Shoot Customs and Hannigan Motorsports.
    Life is good,again.

    Default it takes time

Between 500 and 600 miles it clicked for me and I became very comfortable on the Trike, I then took the Trike training course, luckily there were only 3 in the class and we got lots of practice time pushing the Trike to its limits. Now at 2600 miles I cannot see going back to two wheels

Welcome, and congrats on the new Trike!

I think you will find your "groove" after about 500 miles or so. I made the switch about three years back and never regretted it. My wife just made the switch about 3 months back.

The pothole thing never really goes away; it's just going to be something you will adjust to as time goes on.

Rode 2 wheels 50 years, now on 3. True, hard to change but it gets better with mileage. Took me the best part of a year. The 1st time you get lots of traffic especially in the heat, you'll think how difficult 2 wheels was & be glad you're on 3! Welcome to 3 wheels from South Florida.........

Thank you all for the input. I adjusted the air on front back and shocks. I rode 425 miles today and your advice helped make it for a perfect ride.

Feet up up be safe to you all.

Billy, just as you are learning, it gets better with more riding...there is an old saying, "Doing the work teaches us how to do the work." Same applies to going from two to three wheels..

I have so far put 2000 miles on my trike in two months or so since I bought it and it is very much easier to ride than when I first got it.
