Not an expert but the 13 is a plug in module. No BCM to work with so maybe the plug pulled loose?

Welcome to Trike Talk from SE Missouri. Sounds like you might have a loose connection. Have you taken it apart to see if you have any wire/cables that are loose or off?
Can you post a link to where you read that on the internet.

I've heard the term flash with cell phones and that means reprograming the phone. I don't know what that would mean on a CB.
Lots of Harley accessories have to have the bike programmed for them, extra FOBs for one ... personally I think it's a money maker for Harley, but, I've been told it's to ensure every thing plays nice together.

new to this stuff so I hope i'm doing this correctly....
to answer some of the Q's. Did an internet search for cb problems on harleys with the message " com option not installed" and many said the problem for them was fixed by their dealer with the radio being "flashed". My dealer in ohio said i am the first one to have this problem that he has heard of. Dang!!!!
At last... i'm frist at something!!
I understand flashing to mean programming the radio to accept accessory options. If the CB wasn't checked during the flashing your com won't recognize its connection. Don't know how your CB came to be on your machine, but probably worth investigating. It is possible when they programmed your com accessories they didn't x the yes option for your CB. Have the dealer check the programming for your com system so it can be programmed if not already done. Without the software download it won't work. May or may not be the problem.
If "Plan A" didn't work.

The man said he had a 2013. They did not go to the need to flash until the changed the bus in 2014. The 2013 should be a plug and play. The CB module sits on top of the radio and is hard wired into the sound system. All the hand controls are wired in also. I believe the radio sees the cb the same way as it sees the aux when you plug into the aux plug. That the outer fairing off and see if all the plugs are in tight. If it was working before that should be the problem.
