Every time I see a show or read an article I'm drawn to the idea that I knew the supposed D.B. Cooper from my stint in the Army. He look exactly like the composite. We called him Smitty and he was from Oregon. He had the brains and personality to pull something like that off. The guy was always talking about pulling a caper that would set him up for life. He would have been discharged in very early 1970. A few years later he became an exotic international tile importer. About five years ago, maybe longer, he ran his vehicle into a creek and drown. I'll always believe he was D.B. Cooper because he was always talking about some big Caper he planned pulling off when he was discharged. We were a tight group of four in Nam and I'm the only one still living. This is kind of a Ripley's believe it or not.
