Default Passenger complaining on Goldwing trike

We just switched from a 2 wheeler to a 2006 Goldwing Trike with the CSC conversion. We love the trike and the great ride, but the wife complains about the turblent air in the passenger seat. Can anyone suggest a cure for this. Life is better when wife is happy.

Two things come to mind right away Larry and they are not what most would think of. First, add a set of Baker Trike Wings. They mount to the front crash bars and push the air out away from the fenders so it doesn't come up and beat your passenger. Second, add Baker Hand Wings. They mount to the bottom of the mirrors and also keep wind off the passenger. They also will allow you to pull air in during those scorcher days...

You'd think I was a Baker employee the way I talk but really and truly the Baker products WORK !! Back when my wife rode at all, she had to ware a full face helmet or a full face shield on a 3/4 helmet. When I added the Baker Hand Wings all that changed...

Now, I will also have to say, some riders have chosen to add Baker Wind Wings and even change out the windshield in favor of the Tulsa sail. Since I have not done either I just can't say. The Trike and Hand Wings are the two least expensive additions and I would be surprised if your wife was not pleased with the result. Good luck solving that issue.

Even if you get it figured out she'll probably be like my wife and find something else to gripe about.

Have to agree on the Baker wings. Added the hand wings and the wind wings and boy are they great. About a million combinations for airflow (well maybe not that many but you get the idea).

My wife gets more air than me for sure. I just added the Baker Wings under the Mirrors and she said that helped quite a bit. That has all I have done so far. I do not like the looks of the ones on the sides.

Advice on trike wings is dead right. That reduced the wind beating up my wife dramatically. Took me a while to figure out that was where the wind was coming from. Also helps protect fenders from debris and bugs.

    Hand wings also a must.

My wife was happy with the stock windshield but I have now switched to a Long Ride Shield and am happy with that because I can look over the top of it and wife still better protected.

F4+4 Definitely vented, either tinted or clear. I picked tinted and really like it!

Disclaimer on trike wings: Does not stop all the turbulence off my fenders! May be because mine is a Hannigan, which has a much wider stance than most trikes.
Having said all that, not much one can do about turbulence following large vehicles, such as box trucks and semis.

    Default Baker Wings

Using all of the various Baker Wings is very effective! Changing them around to correct the air flow is easy. I too have the Hannigan Gen II conversion and the trike wings help. Before I installed them, I noticed the turbulence increase on my first ride after it was triked (600 miles from the factory to back home). When my wife got to ride on the back, she commented on the increased turbulence. First chance, installed them and they do make a difference. Make sure you get the trike wings and not the smaller lowers.

The Kury pegs that mount to the horizon bar of the tip over guards work with the trike wings

    Default Hwy pegs

When they installed the floorboards at Hannigans, they removed my Kuryakyn ergo pegs. They will not fit with Hannigans floorboards.
That being said the trike wings mount on the vertical part of the engine guards & the ergo pegs mounted on the horizontal part of the engine guards. Yes they both normally fit.
What I had to do was install a set of Rivco highway pegs that mount to the valve covers. Every change you make always causes compromises!

hi hogfan. my wife was getting beat up my the wind. I did all 4 the 3 bakerwings and went to a tall wend screen with vent, I think the vent also helps. any way the info you have gotten is good and will not brake the bank.
you'll have a good day and stay safe

They would fit if you use mini-arms.

I have a 2014 Wing with Gen II Hannigan kit & have the Kury Ergo II pegs with 4" arms but I also tried the Mini and 6" arms. Due to my leg length the 4" were best for me. Mine are mounted right in front of the aqua shields on the horizontal bar of the engine guard. Very close but they do fit. I used the same Ergo II peg on my 2008 Hannigan Gen I but with the mini arms. There was more room to mount them on the 2008. You can see a pic of the 2014 in my Sig Pic on the GL1800 Riders Forum. Hope this helps. Ride Safe. Doc

    Default Great Advice

Thanks for the advice about the wind wings. Sounds like what I need, the wife even agreed. Going to order some today.

Doc, I've got the same set up with the same problem but I've tried the Trike Wings and they do not fit over those arms unless I cut so much out I feat they would weaken them too much. Got a close up pic?

All this advice is great to reduce the wind discomfort, but my wife rides with me a couple times a year.
These fixes are pricey for the little time she rides with me.
