    Default I'm thinking of buying a new Spyder rts

    I currently have a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard c50. Have been riding motorcycles for years, I have bad knees and it's getting hard for me to hold the bikes up anymore, so thinking of getting rts. Any thoughts on what would be good. Rts sm6 or rts se6 or even triglide? I have never own a Harley but like the looks of triglide. I have read that the rts se6 has a fare amount of problems. Any thoughts that would help my decision?

    Either trike will be a benefit to your knees! I've owned Harleys but never a trike so can't comment on them. I have owned two Spyders though and have not had had any problems with them. The can am 1330 is smooth and powerful.

    Hi. Welcome . I've had both an RT-L and currently a Triglide. They are very different rides. Like Minister said, either one would be easy on the knees.

    I suggest test riding each to see which you prefer.

    I would stick to the 1330 Spyders. They have improved so much over the old 998.

    Personally, I love my Triglide.

    Tblack, I currently own a 2016 Harley Tri Glide Ultra and a 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3-S. I liken my TGU to a comfortable Barco Lounger with very cool sound and vibes. I consider my F3-S to be a sport-trike that is not as comfortable but is a heck of a lot of fun to ride. The Can-Am's have had some growing pains and have a much smaller dealer network than Harley's and there are a lot less technicians that know how to work on them. I think your choice will also come down to how often you ride solo or two-up. My wife would not likely get on the Can-Am but enjoys 1-1.5 hour trips each way on the TGU. Hope this comparison helps a bit. Bob

    Thank for the feed back! I have test rode the rts and it seemed real smooth and liked the options, but definitely different breed than I'm used to. I'm waiting for my local Harley dealer to get a TGU so I can test ride it. I do ride daily and also do ride long trips, so I want something that is comfortable and reliable. Most of the time I ride solo but my son is starting to ride with me and I'm hoping the wife will start to ride once I get a trike.

    Test ride the different Trikes and makes your own decision.. I went from a Triglide to the Spyder RT and am happy that I did. The Spyder is one smooth rideing trike.

    I hear the RTS is no more for the 2017 MY.

    Take long test rides and try different road conditions. You will see why I say this when testing the trikes.

    I prefer the SE6.

    Have done all my Maint and tire changes up to this point..

    Been riding mine for thousands of miles and have no problems with the spyder

    stick with the 14 MY and up.

    Ok, so I have now test rode the 16 RTS and a 16 F3. The F3 has plenty of power but the steering seemed to be a bit touchy! At 40+ mph the slightest move made it Vere and was difficult to keep straight. The f3 is too much a sport style for me. I'm gonna test ride as many trikes as I can this season and come spring I think I will know what one is right for me.

    Thanks to everyone for there thoughts and experiences, it is very helpful.

    Sounds like a alignment would take care of that touchy feeling and keeping straight..Tire pressure also makes a difference.

    Late season early spring are best prices on bikes normally

    May also be how hard Tblack is holding onto those skinny grips on the F3. I found that when I added the Spyderpops foam grips that increased the diameter of the grip by about x2 that I was putting in much less grip pressure on the handlebars which took away any rider-induced twitch.

    Common ailment with two wheels up front and one in the back...Its like the tail wagging the dog...
    Between the DPS and the rear single tire dropping of the crown on the road. Newbies tend to over correct and give the death grip on the bars... Once they figure that out' And just ease up and go with the flow every thing is fine, No mechanical intervention necessary...Been their once...

    I took the advice of everyone on this site. I've owned HD's for many years and switched to a HD FreeWheeler trike in 2015. The trike was alright, but didn't ride very smooth. The wife and I couldn't ride very long, by myself I could ride for an half a hour to hour before having to take a break.
    Then we were out and did a CanAm test ride, we couldn't believe the difference in the two rides. We also rode the Tri-Glide from HD, ended up liking the Spyder better between the two. Was hard letting go of that HD sound.
    I think until HD improves their rear suspension on the TRi that they will never have the ride of the Sypder, but then again two different types of trikes.
    Just my 2 cents.

    I went with the Spyder RT Limited SE6 and we love the ride. It handles like it's on rails after you get use to the feel and difference, again just my 2 cents.

    Ya gotta ride a Spyder 500 miles to get used to the "new ride". I love my three wheelers. They are different rides but both are great rides.
