Going back to 2 wheels

I have had my 2007 Suzuki C90 with a factory installed Lehman Jackal trike kit for a year now and I have decided to go back to 2 wheels. I love the idea of a trike but I can not get used to a trikes handling characteristics. I do not know if it is my trike specifically, since I bought it used, or it is inherent in all trikes but the feeling that my trike wants to roll in the corners is hard to overcome and feels real. Also, my tike's front end feels like it is tilted all the time depending on which way the tire wear groves or crown is located in relation to my front end. Maybe something is tweaked in the frame or the swing arm but nothing I have tried seems to help the situation.

Lee Mann has been a great help and source of information to me and others. He has suggested several things but nothing helps. I eve changed out my rear shocks and spring to no avail. I have looked over the frame and swing arm and nothing seems broken or bent. I have checked the front head and wheel bearing and they seem fine so I am not sure what the issue is at this time.

Anyway, this is a great website loaded with lots of great people and information. I plan on staying on the site because you never know when another trike might be on the horizon.

Wayne after you go back take some time and when opportunity presents itself ride some other trikes. I think you will find that it was the machine that you had.

Its too bad you don't know someone in your area that has trike. You could have them drive yours and see if it feels normal to them. If not, you at least know its your trike and not all trikes.

Unfortunately I do not know any other trike riders in my area. I was hoping to try and test ride another trike but none of the various dealers in my area have any that I can test ride. I will give it some time and then look around again and test ride as many as I can before making another trike purchase.

I honestly think it is my particular unit that is not right but I do not know that for sure. As I stated in my earlier post, I have tried checking everything possible, changed out the rear shock and springs and played with the tire pressures until my gauge broke but nothing seems to help.

Thanks again everyone for the advice, especially Lee Mann, and I am staying on the site because there is a lot of good information here especially since I may eventually go back to a trike in a couple of years.

Most if not all Harley dealers have rental Tri-Glides 'Dally' Weekly' or by the Month... And some ''If'' you buy a new one will wave the rental fees... You might want to check that out..

If it was me, I would take it to a trike dealer for possible trade and have them check it out.

They could make a big case about how bad it is, but they might just have integrity.

You could possibly test ride one of theirs and see if it is the trike or you.

You might be expecting too much from the trike.

There is very little that can go wrong with the Jackal since it is a simple solid axle design.

I have ridden many and found them to be a little heavy steering, but very durable and good handling.

I also have a 2007 C90 and had that same roll feeling. I added a raked neck and the feeling got stronger. I put in Progressive springs and that helped some. I kept adjusting the spring preload but by the time I reduced most if the roll feeling the forks had no give. Went back to the recommended preload and the roll came back. After doing some research I took a chance and bought a set of 2-inch fork tube extenders. BINGO! The roll issue disappeared.

I suspect the issue is caused by a center-of-gravity shift more towards the front end. Extending the fork tube shifts the c/g towards the rear and that reduces the tendency to roll or dive in the turns. Just something you might want to try before leaving the 3-world.

I got my extensions from Billski. They don't make them specifically for the Suzuki but working with Billski we found the Honda Magna extenders are a perfect fit. I've been riding with the Billski extensions for about 6 years or about 30k miles.

Thank you for the advice and the insight because that is exactly the same issues I was having with my trike. I say was because I have already sold my trike and moved back to two wheels. I am not sure that I would ever buy another C90 trike in the future even though most people rave about them. I would either have a trike kit installed my current motorcycle or go with the Harley Tri-glide or Freewheeler.

Again, thank you for the insight and advice. I will be hanging around this forum because I will be going back to three wheels sometime in the not to distant future.

I guess the obvious answer is...riding. Lol. Since our trike club kind of faded away with the majority of members relocating due to retirement and job changes, and others who stopped riding due to health issues, I've been "test driving" other riding groups in the area.

Your welcome. I was hoping you wouId see my input before selling your trike, but you gotta do whatever makes you happy. I didn't initually intend to buy a C90 trike. I discovered it quite by accident and it worked out well for me.
