If I had a Fatboy and was already used to a Voyager, I think I might go with a Frankenstein kit. I honestly don't think a larger unit would look good on a Fatboy. But that's me. Opinions are really pretty cheap.

Look at that Softail/DFT trike at the top left of the page, situated in the TrikeTalk.com logo. Just my opinion but Softails make great looking trikes. If I were building a new trike today, that one would almost be at the top of my list.

    Welcome to the Forum!

I tried working with them years ago. It was a disappointing experience.

They may have changed for the better...I don't know? But after being mislead (that's being generous) by them many times, I would not give them another chance easily.

    Default Frankenstein trike kits.

After months of research i settled on the Frankenstein kit for my 2004 electraglide classic. That kit is the best i could find .the diff.is a dana 30 with 9 in.ford axles.it's what is referred to as a live axle.spider gears.I must say this kit is great. And when they say you cant use your $500 fl exhaust they are wrong.all you need from them is the s pipes and hangers.after shortening my fl mufflers.5 inches.and cutting and rewelding the s pipes.you just shortened the exhaust by 14 in.and all the welds are covered by exhaust heat shields.pipes stick out 3 inches behind their fl fenders.and they look mean.and there is no cutting on the head pipes.the mufflers they sell with the exhaust kit are whyatt Gatling mufflers which sound like drag pipes on a shovel.

All in all the Frankie kit is Made overkill.and if anyone gets this kit the 7 degree trees are a must.i rode a independent suspension kit and they are good for bumps but that is all.take some fast curves and you feel like your comming off.another note if you install a conversion a good set of low end torque cams such as andrew ev26 will restore the power you just lost.hope this helps anyone on deciding on what they are looking for.as for towing you cant use the hitch they sell if it's a Fl. It wont clear the fender.fab one up yourself and use their mounting points.who pulls a trailer with a sportster anyway.ill post some pics on how the exhaust was done and hitch soon as i get. The hitch completed.

I am currently waiting for the Motor Trike conversion of my 2013 Road Glide Ultra. It is taking longer than normal because we are getting a custom paint job as well. Will post pics after we finally get it back.

Good Luck with your motortrike kit I have a 2013 kit on my 03 Road King and I love it. After installing one of Zooks rake kits it handles extremely well. The IRS is very comfortable and corners well. I did not have the luggage rack installed at build but mototrike loaned us a template to install one. The fiberglass is well made and a lot more sleek and stylish than most other brands. Overall I have nothing but good things to say about Motortrike. Hope you have the same experience.

    Default My 2 cents worth

My first trike was a MotorTrike kit. I put it on my 2006 EletraGlide Standard.
I chose the smallest, basic unit, I thought most fitting for the "minimalist" Standard
model ElectraGlide. Was very happy with.
Default the trike life

I purchased a 'kit' from "The Trike Life" (Ebay) back in November (2016). Took 2 weeks to get it delivered from Florida and another 4 weeks for the swingarm from Paughco . No real problems on my order. I was told up front about the swingarm being built for the bike (2008 Street Bob). It was either get rid of the Street Blob or do something with it.

When they say a kit they mean a kit. Requires welding. Hole drilling and body painting . I researched it before I bought it. I am still working on it, should be ready by April-May.

I made sure I kept in contact with Rebecca until I got my order.

Their $3695 'kit' was what they advertised ..

DNA axle, brake lines, swingarm, body and a set of steel wheels (Summit Racing) that were thrown in by Rebecca.

Since I live in Cleveland Ohio and it is now officially winter I will be waiting for a little warmer weather to continue my build (non heated garage).

I have installed the swingarm (with all new parts (Ronnie's HD)) axle assembly( not welded yet) and wheels/tires.

It's starting to look like a trike ..

Total investment so far is $4150.

This isn't my first trike build.

I built a 1958 (swingarm) Pan head wheeler in '72-'73. I made it a bolt on setup since I wasn't sure if I really wanted a trike. It was fun especially going around corners on 2 wheels . A couple of years later I built a sportster trike for a friend.

    Default The Trike Life build

The start of a basic build:
It took me a little over 2 hrs. to remove the seat, wheel, swing arm, and install new trike swing arm (that was prepped with new internals). And another 2 1/2 hrs. to get the belt on the axle and bolt it up.

Next time I add photos I will shrink them down a little.

    Default Trike Life basic build

A couple more pics. I put the wheels on this morning (11 deg.) and moved the shocks back temporarily(?). If I decide to move the shocks back to the fender mount holes I will add some support to the fender rails. The shocks are 11" that I had laying around from another project.
