I get the idiot of the year award.

As soon as I went to the Q and A page I hit the menu and went to the 1st category. Covering up exactly what I needed to see with the pull down menu.

Yep... A while ago and just up the road from me this young girl had just run off the road and hit a tree.... And when i ask her how did you manage to do that... She said the tree was chasing me. ''What'' i said!. Yes every time i turned to avoid it the tree turned with me. Then i looked up at her rearview mirror and noticed a Pine tree scented air freshener hanging from it...

I've used Ride-On in my last 3 bikes and really never worried about the product cause who has tires that last over 3 years anyway ?? I usually am changing tires every 2-3 years but I ride a lot. I put at least 6-8k a year, so it's a mute issue with me. The tire is worn out before the Ride-On is even an issue.

I wanna hear more about this. I've seen the "BBs in the tire" type balance media around... are you saying the Airsoft plastic BB route works just as well? Hell I see those things sold by the quart jar everywhere, that sounds real interesting...

That's me. 3 years would mean I didn't ride much for some reason. Normally every 18 months to 2 years it's time for yet another one.

With me its always been age before miles.
Or a new bike. New bike days are over.
Ive had the trike for 4 years. 14K miles.
My Yamaha RoadStar 11 years old. 1 front tire, 2 rear then 8 years ago went double dark.
    Bike rear tire on front
    Light Truck Tire on rear.
    13k with bike tires.
17K darkside and not a bit of wear to speak of on current tires.
Looking to quit riding bikes before new tires needed or 30K for front. 40K on the rear. At the rate Im going. If Im still riding or breathing above ground in my late 70s??? Whichever comes 1st.

Wow .... someone read my posts .....

Sure they work .... especially on narrower tires. The problems I have found is when using them as a sole balance for a very low profile 65-60-55 series car tire which has a wide "floor" so the beads may line up balancing one way, but do so on the wrong side of the tire floor.

That "quart" or bigger jar is what they come in. I looked up the weight for Dyna Beads and I put that much weight wise in my GL's tires using "Airsoft Red Jacket BBs" in my case .... cheap and weight is weight and they are as free to move as balance beads. I use about 2 oz. in front 130mm wide front tires on both 1200 & 1500 trike and 3 oz. in rear 150mm wide tire on my GL1200 bike ... I do have 3 or 4 ounces in the larger 215/70-15 rear trike tires.
When I change tires I just use a small portable vacuum that has long narrow wand, break bead loose, aim it down between tire and wheel from side towards bottom and vacuum them out. Place in a screen colander bowl, rinse, let dry and put back in jar.

Do not use these in addition to any other type of balancing formulas such as Ride-On. A fluid and beads don't mix at all.
The best known and original company to offer these type of beads is a company called Dyna Beads.
They have been used for years they aren't new.
Lots of other companies sell similar beads all basically the same product.
Most tires use between 2 to 4 ozs of beads. 4 ozs being the norm.

The are installed by tossing in a packet when mounting the tire. Or after the fact through the valve stem. They are basically ceramic beads and work well in any tire car or bike. Being inert they cause no harm what so ever.
No I wouldn't recommend using Airsoft although you can using the smallest ones you can find.

    A few examples.

    Agreed

    Why?

I am sure that the makers / sellers selling the beads would agree with you .... but the only deal with the Airsoft Red Jackets BBs is they have to be inserted between the bead & rim. They too are inert being hard plastic, they come out looking exactly as they did going in.

Nothing wrong in my book with using airsoft ballz.
Im just not sure what they are made of.
Dyna Beads are ceramic and wont break down over time.
A hard plastic like substance may??
That said. I have no personal experience with them.
Ive heard folks in the past have even used shot!!!
If its round and rolls. In theory it should work. But longevity?? Unknown to me.

    Default How long..

I was just reading a article in the Egyptian Sun Harold where an archeologist from the Cairo museum of Antiquities found a hidden room on the right side wall of the great pyramid of Giza, And in that room was a 4 thousand year old workers wheel barrow' To their amazement the tire was still holding air.. On further examination, And cutting the tire open what they found inside the tire was 8oz of Ride-on....
    Now we know....
