Default My New CSC Viper Conversion

I am a fairly new member here and one of my first threads, I asked for any experiences about Complete Cycle after finding some advertising from them that had lower prices for conversions than any one else could do. I got no information one way or another on them so I did a bunch of research and could only find negative information several years ago, nothing recent. I did check with the BBB and saw that they had been given an A+ rating. I even called up CSC direct and was told that Complete Cycle was one of their top dealers. I decided to go ahead and have them do the conversion.

I drove the bike down there last Wed, Aug 17th, the work began on Thur, Aug 18th, and was finished up late afternoon Fri, Aug 19th. While the work was being done, the owner Harold actually encouraged me to hang out to watch the progress. I spent a good chunk of Thur doing just that and then went back on Fri early afternoon to watch the completion. Bruce, who did the majority of the install has been doing CSC installations almost exclusively for Complete Cycles for some time now and was also assisted by another employee, Troy. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

The advertised price was accurate unlike some ads I have seen in the past where there are hidden charges. Not the case here. I did add a few things for additional cost that I wanted such as the ABS option to keep my ABS brakes, trailer hitch, fender bras, and the "passenger comfort" anti roll bar which is a new option being offered by CSC. I skipped the aux fuel tank because of problems I read about leaks and because I am usually ready to take rest stops by the time the fuel gauge has dropped to 1/4 tank anyway. I just couldn't justify the cost. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and look forward to driving this trike for many years to come...

I bought a new 2012 with a CSC Viper installed on it back a few years ago. I love it.
It seemed mysterious to me until I started looking under it and checking it out. I saw the quality of the parts and the design.
You were lucky being able to watch it go together.
There's a place about 75 miles away from me that installs Viper kits and I dropped by one day and he had just gotten one in. He showed me the kit and explained to me all the parts and how everything worked. He said it was an impressive kit.
I didn't get the extra fuel tank either and kinda wished I had. Not enough to add it now. I was told it would be very expensive to do it. Oh well, I'm old and need to stop pretty often anyway.
Love my Viper! I guess you got the new 5 year warranty.
I only got 3 and it's passed now.

Beautiful Trike MIKE !!! I hadn't owned my gold '06 too many months when they brought out that burnt orange color in '07... I was kicking myself all over the place for not waiting....

Sounds like your installer is a stand up company. Now we have someone on Trike Talk that can speak for them. That is a very good thing...

How did you like the difference in pulling the trailer behind a trike instead of the two wheel bike? I've always heard trailers behave much better pulled by trikes.

Now that you mention it, I used to get a little tug when pulling out of a lot onto the road. I didn't really notice it hooked up to the trike. Also attaching and removing the hitch went a lot easier because the ball is already in an upright position. It always pulled pretty good going down the road though. I just have to figure out a more permanent solution to the wiring. The Viper comes already wired with a square 6 pole connector. This trailer is wired as a flat 4 and my camping trailer is a round 6 pole. There is plenty of time to get that done.

Mike I have a few diagrams on how to build your own converter if you are so inclined. Just takes a little soldering and wiring skills. Shoot me a PM with your email address if you'd like them...

Would not be difficult to make inline adapters for the different trailer needs.

    Default Trailer wiring

After researching the CSC wiring I found that the pre-wired plug is for the CSC Escalade trailer. I asked the dealer for that plug and I wired it to my Kuryakyn 9183 connector, which is mounted under the trailer ball mount. No more crawling under to connect plug or chains. Please see the pictures. PM me and I will send pictures of setup.

I ended up contacting CSC direct and ordered 2 of their pigtails. The first one I mounted permanently using a round 6 pin vehicle side connector just to the left of the hitch. Since the camper trailer is the main trailer I pull, it made the most sense. I just didn't wire up the center pin. On the CSC, that 6th connection would be a 12v supply. On the camper, the 6th wire is for the brakes. Since I never got around to adding a brake controller on the trike, I just left that 6th wire disconnected. On the second pigtail I ordered, I cut down the wires on the 5-4 converter I also had, connected it to the extra pigtail, and have a small harness that I can use for when I need to haul the cargo trailer. It is short enough where it won't hang and drag on the ground. I just disconnect the permanent 6 pin harness I made and plug in the other 4 pin harness I made.
