Visited our local dealer Saturday. Really enjoyed looking at the new TGs. Then I started thinking of all the "stuff" I've added to my '13 TG... you know, when you get your ride decked just the way you like it, it just doesn't make sense to even think about changing. Kind of like a good wife...

Buying a new Trike is like Underwear, Every few years you gotta change to a new one...Whether or not a new one needed........ Old Trikes are like underwear and start to get a little moldy after a few years without a change...

Done enough fishin. I have a keeper perfect NO but mine! no trading maybe buy another but not sell the one I have.... ride safely fearless

Road new trike Saturday. Smooth engine. I have 2014 trike with stage one so the power and torque is pretty close to being the same. Dealer says my trade is depreciated about 40% in three years, so why would I do it again plus put another 4K in extras. Naw, my baby is fine and paid for. It will be interesting to see what recalls come up on the new engine.

bpago, The dealer (or should I say dumb ass salesperson?) you went to is totally full of sh*t! If what they said were true, your 2014 that listed for $34500 is now only worth $20.7k. KBB show retail at $29.8k and trade-in as $24.7k. NADA shows high retail for the 2014 as $30.1k and Low Retail as $22.9k.

It is amazing to me that the dealers think we are so stupid that we would give them almost $6k profit on each new transaction and then take another $4k hit from their lame trade-in offers.

They must all think we are ?

Rather than wishing or watching about recalls on the new engine, let's hope that Harley has built a great machine in the new 2017 TGU M8.

We just need to consider our options as time rolls on (pun intended) and see if we want to go through the relatively minor hassle of selling our tricked out rides to likely a private party and then go into a much better dealer than you likely went into and negotiate a fair price for both you and the dealership.

The stupid ass dealers don't set the used prices, the overall market place (including the lending institutions) does and I don't see anybody holding a gun to our heads to give the dealers maximum profit on every end of our transactions. That just ain't the American way or at least it is not the American way for those of us that don't want to be poor all of their lives.

BTW, I had stopped in at Bert's Black Widow Harley in Port Charlotte, Florida last week. Those folks appear to know how to move the iron and they serve free cold beer every minute that they are open They had (3) 2017 Tri Glides on the dealer floor on day two of the roll-out.

The salespeople there seemed to be very attuned to working with customers and helping them leave with some new iron.
