Question for you that have taller bars on your triglide

Went to dealer today and sat on bike with rider backrest installed, and the 12.5 wild one bars on, got it where I want it and it felt good, the mechanic said it would be a little far away from the fairing, not sure what he meant by that. He said it is your bike put them where you want them, I think he said the bars would be 4 or 5 inches away from fairing, can't really remember what he said now to be honest. Now have to order the cables, the ones they put on are to short, and he said something about a junction thing and it looked to be below the triple tree, he said it would be a updated one. He had it on lift and we took it off lift so I could turn the front wheel to left and right, the bars felt good to me.

Any ideas on this, sure would appreciate some feedback on this, had the rider backrest adjusted to fit my low back since I have a bad back and this will help, have one on my road king as well. When I had the bars the way I wanted them and the rider backrest felt good, maybe I was sitting straight up instead of leaning a little, I know I have to get this right the first time since there is so much to take off and put back on and I don't want to have to do it again for sure.

Ok fellow trikers with taller bars, chime in, I know the parts won't be here until Wed or Thur because of holiday.

Two things-

Make sure that the bars are where you are comfortable. Sit on the trike how you ride it. Close your eyes, then put your hands where they are comfortable. That is where the grips should be.

Do it a few times, just to make sure.

Once they put the bars where the grips will be the most comfortable, make sure you can turn the handlebars all the way each direction without hitting the tank.

You never mentioned your size or sleeve length
im 5'7" with a 32 " sleeve I have installed the Klock Werks 2+2 narrow sweepers and they fit me fine. No extensions or other cables needed.
this is on a 2016 TG.

Ok, I am 5' 9" and have a 22" sleeve length and that is from top of shoulder to bottom of wrist bone. Really didn't think I had short arms but guess I do LOL.

The only reason I chose the wild one 12.5 was had already ridden a trike with them on and like them, would have been nice if I could have found someone with the 2+2 sweepers to compare, but most around here have stock bars on their triglide's.

By looking at your pics Casper I'm surprised they didn't have to change any cables

nope, no cable changes, I did the install myself, wasn't to bad, took my time. Did have to snip a few wire ties and pull some slack. If I change or do it over I'll get the wire extensions and run all the wires internally, may change the brake and clutch cable to a + 2 or +4...no more than that. Just to clean it up...snug the cables and wires up closer to the bars...go for now though.

I chose the wide 2+2 Wide Sweepers it is like having power steering works for me Bars are a very personal thing good luck gotta be right or they are a pain literally Neck Back Shoulders arms. Ride safely fearless

Looks like the 2+2 would be just as nice and by Fearless close of pics looks like the wrist angle like the 12.5 wild ones. I guess I should have ask the dealer if they had the 2+2's in stock so I could have tried them both before they was wired. Oh well I made my decision and already drove a 2014 with the wild one's so that is what I went with on the 2016, just waiting for cables now.

P.S. I know most trikers have went with 2+2 sweepers from post's that I have read in the last 8 months or so before I joined the forum since now I have one, this is a great site for learning about trikes.

Like I said bars a very personnel thing for myself I needed a different grip angle stiff right wrist (crash 1974). also not nearly as pricey as some others (I'm very aware my money is going and for what). That beging said good xhoice those bars are very nice. ride safely fearless

Fearless, I think so, they had them in stock already, when I went down to have it fitted for me, the bar thickness appeared to be thicker than stock, plan on going back down on Tuesday and will check it out then. The reason going back down is when I was there on Sat I don't remember seeing the grab bar installed, the other owner had it taken off for some reason and it was in the tour pack and I can't remember if they had it on after installing the rider backrest, they was supposed to put it back on so going back down Tues to check it out and sit on bike for another test for bars.
