Default Question on storage on cement floor without a jack

I don't have a jack yet, I know I posted in another thread about jacks but was wondering what I could do this winter, my other 2 bikes sit all winter on a jacks so tires are off the cement floor. Just curious if anybody does anything special or just leave tires on floor, I'm limited on space as is and it is not a heated garage, winters here can be cold and can also be pretty nice, temps down and then up and down and so forth.

Should I worry about flat spots, have heard this a old wive's tale, but I believe it true on bias tires, but not radials, the triglide doesn't have radials or least I don't think so, pretty new at this. Have read put some carpet pieces down for tires or even cardboard, not sure what this does so that is why I'm asking to the experience riders with triglides that live in the basically the midwest, doesn't apply to you warm weather all year long riders, must be nice.

    All for now Trampas

I may have to wait until next year for the J & S jack, so that is why the inquiry for this winter

Just thinking out loud, I guess you could take a floor jack and rais one wheel at a time and place jack stands under each side, get a blackjack type jack ( used with lifts) and get the front wheel off the ground. Build something to replace the blackjack ....

mine ne stays on the ground, but in Kentucky we can have snow one day and 60's the next....

I just let it sit on my garage floor [Cement] Been doing it that way for over 46 years ...Bikes or Trikes,
And the bike will sit from November to March... With out any lii effects .. The Trike is used almost every day during that time... In my humble opinion There might be just a little over thinking going on..

I just put some plywood pieces on the floor for the tires to set on. My shed is cold with a cement floor. The pieces are long enough that about once a month I just roll either forward or back about 10 inches. Don't know how necessary this all is but what the heck, gives me an excuse to check & sit on the trike when I can't ride!!
And I keep a battery tender on it all winter.
    It is what it is.

All of our bikes have been stored in an unheated building for years. Never have any issues with the tires. I know of some folks that park them on some carpet "sample's".

Many bikes since my first in 1967. All parked inn garage on cement floor. Never had any issues!
Think the "flat spots" came from cage tires when nylon was used in them.

Mine is in an attached garage but not heated. I have used plywood in the past but now have a rubber truck bed liner for it to sit on during the cold months. My wives tale is that the cold concrete can affect the composition of the rubber. Causing premature side wall cracks etc.

Don't know if it really helps, but it makes me feel like I am giving it a little TLC

OH...GREAT...another thing for me to over think

But it's just going to have go to the bottom of the list

    Over Thinking List Top Five

    1. Why did the Cowboys receiver not run out of bounds at the end of the game?
    2. Will HD ever make a factory Roadglide Trike?
    3. With 318 million people in the USA...Is Hillary and Trump the best we could offer to run for president?...Really???...Really???
    4. Is over thinking one word or two?
    5. Going on vacation for 2 weeks, take 1 or 2 little blue pills with me??? Or at my age...does it really even matter???

Let's see how this works, one word (overthinking) or two words ( over thinking ) maybe I"m over thinking this

Thought about pieces of plywood, but I can't move mine after it's in it's spot, no room in garage to move back and forth, basically the front end is going to be between to vehicles, which I hope works, if my measuring is good it will, what the heck, I flunked math in school, so time will tell.

Also thought of carpet pieces also, beginning to think I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill

Appreciate all the replies so far, get right down to it, it may just sit on a cold floor, unless I can scrape up some money for the jack, which right now might be a little hard to do.

Concrete floor in heated garage .... never a problem. If the roads are clear of salt .... I'm riding.

My Friends Sisters boy friend was very anal about storing his bikes on cement floors especially during the long and hard northeast winters. So one winter he used jacks to keep the tires off the cement floor in his garage. Come spring the tires were perfect...But he had to buy new jacks, They all got flat spots..

I have always left them on the floor unless im working on them even before my garage was heated, never an issue. If you are getting flat spots in the course of 4-6 then you must have recaps from India or china.

Like me, you worry too much. Here's my foolproof method for overcoming it:

Park the bike as you would in summer. If possible, put it on a trickle charge.

Proceed to your main living area.

Pour yourself 2 fingers of bourbon.

    Drink the bourbon.

    All will be well.

If your worries return, repeat the process.
