I have the same and yes i have a issue trying to adjust them while mounted. I made myself a special tool to do it. The tool that came with them did not work well when the shock was mounted.
Also I found indexing the torsion bars helped me a lot. I had to do it a few times to get it the way I want it
If you do this, be careful they are under a LOT of pressure. They can hurt you bad if you are not careful
I made a special tool out of a spring compressor just for this. I just made my spring compressor longer and then welded points on my frame that it could attach to

Yea, the rear shocks make a world of difference in the ride and handling!
Did you guys ever hear of channel lock pliers? I've had adjustable coil over shocks on my trike for a good while now and adjust them however/whenever I want or need to with them...NO MORE BUSTED KNUCKLES!!
