Renegade makes a production trike as seen on my post. Boss Hoss also makes one.
Got into a discussion today about what manufacturers build production line trikes. The answer seems to be that no one except Harley, builds a trike. We're talking conventional trike, not a CanAm, or anything with 2 wheels in the front.
Does, or did BMW, or anyone else, build trikes?

Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha all made factory trikes as ATV's.
Until the US gov't stepped in & basically banned sales here.
The trikes were at times a handful for the inexperienced rider, but no more dangerous than a dirtbike.

I've wondered why Honda hasn't built their own GoldWing Trike. It didn't take them long to put Craig Vetter out of business when they seen all the money he was making by putting bags & fairings on their bikes back in the 80's
With so many people triking GoldWings today. I'm amazed that they haven't gotten a piece of this market.

The way I understand it is that when Honda came out with the small three wheelers that were so dangerous and lost law suits over it they had to sign an agreement not to build any trikes for a certain number of years?
I cant recall the details?
If they were allowed to do it, you bet they would!
About a year ago i seen that triumph was building a factory trike based on their in line four, but haven't seen it?

the difference between a good trike and a bad one depends entirely on the integrity of it's builder!
We have wondered about this too. Seems as though it would have been a natural progression for them, and actually an easy, and profitable one too, as Harley discovered. Some of those Tri Glides run between $40k to $50k, and they are a solid axle rear. Honda is missing out, but I am sure the trike kit manuf are happy.
Thanks to all for the reponnses. Even with those mentioned, Harley is apparantly still the only "conventional trike" builder.

There is a company called Cheeta out of southern Ind i believe that builds a V8 trike also,I would venture to say that Honda has got one in the works just waiting.
Actually, I think the reason Honda does not get into the trike business is because there are so many conversions out there and every one of them need a Goldwing!! It's a Win - Win for Honda; Sell a bike and don't have to mess with the trike end.
You don't see many of these around but Victory does have a trike. It is really a conversion but marketed as a factory trike. Can't recall who does the trike part.
I found this online http://www.motorcycle.com/manufactur...iew-86695.html so I guess Lehman is doing the trike part.

In defense of trike builders, Its about credibility, not the bike brand.
If its an aircraft boat Bike or farm implement the steel, bearings bolts electrical parts are made by companies that specialize in these area's. Some are better. I know guys that bought new Can-ams and Harly's recently that are lemons and will not re start when shut down. Bad engineering comes into play when 4 of the 8 can am guys I know have failed $2200 power steering units with low miles. I had a Road King with 13k miles cam bearings grind into bits and ruin the engine. It was obvious the bearing choice was wrong,
"too short" for the room provided.
Then some people are idiots and shouldn't operate anything.
My friend owned Hard Tails Harley maint shop and said ne didn't care if they broke down every week, He still likes them.
I expect more from my things, I designed Tool & Die work for 38 years and built parts for aircraft, Polaris, medical device / eyeglass machines to truck alignment parts. We all see some things have bad raps and make nothing but noise. Its your choice, History shows enough to decide if
your going to brake down.
