    Default Triking my Burgman

I am going to trike my 650 Burgman, mainly because I'm not getting any younger. Also had back surgery and holding a bike up is not not easy anymore. I made the plunge this past weekend, after looking at the options I am going with a voyager kit. I have heard both bad and good about the voyager. I am having a dealer install it, that way any issues that may happen I'll be able to go to them with the problem. I am getting anxious now for it to get here and installed. I look forward to any commits or or advice you all have. Peace and blessings <>< Clay

Welcome Clay! Sounds like you have a solid plan. I can relate to your post as my back has never been the same after a head on collision, toss in a bad knee and ankle...well you get where I'm going I'm not up on the different trike conversions available but plenty of experts here on the forum can advise one way or another. What I will tell you that just staying in the wind is what matters the most...Ride safe and keep us posted on your transition to 3 wheels 👍

Most options for the burgman are that type of conversion. Only a couple do the true trike. You should be good enjoy the ride

Thanks, the true trike conversions are just to expensive. I think I'll be happy.

    Default Triking my Burgman

I got my Burgman back this past Wednesday after having a Voyager kit installed. I really am pleased with it. Already have had some parking lot lookers and comments (all good). I will post some pics later. WE have been having a really nice fall, so I have been able to get some riding time in. Big shocker this week is I was diagnosed with the big C and will be starting chemo and radiation ,so that will probably end the riding this year. But there is always next spring after I kick this thing's butt. :-)

    Default Triking my Burgman

Sorry to hear about having the Big C. I know a few people that have it and have licked it but you need to stay positive. I have a Burgman 650 three years now with a Trinity trike set a real 3 wheel set up. Had issues the first year but not the bike is tip top. No issues and I love to ride it. I put my car away in the summer and just ride the bike. Took several road trips on it and I love it. I have two bad knees torn MCL not real bad but can't hold up a two wheeler. I think a trike is much safer, can be seen more that a two wheel bike.

Trinity is now Yelvington but I must say If I buy another trike it will be a Can Am automatic. Trinity was the first true trike set for a Burgman and a Silver Wing. Yet the trike set itself is not the best. Cheep parts didn't find that out until I had issues with the rear end. Then my mechanic took the rear end off and found cheep pot metal inside all had to be replaced relined and put back tonight. My guy is an engineer a perfectionist so when he does something it needs to be done correctly. I can say now that this trike is safe and runs like a fine tuned car.

I rode with a guy who had a Voyager kit installed on his Burgman650. He liked it but when it went around bends at a high rate of speed the back wheel came up. Mine stays down. Something you should watch very carefully. The Voyager has three wheels on the back. I had a 2006 Burgman with a three wheel set on it. The middle tire had to be replace three times. I found out that a trike tire was not going to get it so I put on a car tire. Wow that was the best thing I ever did. Since the trike doesn't lean a car tire will last 30,000 miles. Something to think about.

    Hope all goes well!

We just purchased a Yelvington Trike and we would like to know where specifically these Cheap Pot metal parts you are referring to in the conversion kit are located. From what I understand, first a company called Trinity came out with this conversion kit and then there was another company that bought them or something or Yelvington came also and did. From the research and reading I have done the fellows at Yelvington stepped up and helped those who had previously purchased the Trinity conversions who had issues.

Then Yelvington actually redesigned the kit. There seem to be different versions of the conversion kit. If I happen to have one with the cheap parts you are referring to I would like to know now so I can replace them and head off any problems I might encounter. If I have a later version then maybe I do not have any cheap pot metal parts and my kit is fine. So far it seems to be running well.

When I went down south to purchase this trike for my wife and myself at the end of November, I did receive a copy of the assembly and installation instructions along with the manual and title for the Trike.

I have been away for awhile but back now. So here is the issue I had with my trinity trike that the company did not help with at all no wonder why they quit making the trike. When I wanted to turn left the bike wanted to turn right. It was cracking something really bad when making a turn like the back was ready to fall off. I was on a 100 mile ride and had a heck of a time getting back home.

My trike guy took the back off my bike and looked inside the back axle. He said look at these parts all pot metal wore out cracked. If you rode this bike 50 miles more you might have got killed this is shit. I said wow it was just poorly made parts that didn't even match up to spec.

So he rebuilt the rear end cost me $1200 bucks but now the bike is solid. I have a chain drive bike rides great.

So this summer on a ride both of my fenders cracked big time. 12 inches on both the left and the right sides. Had to go to a body shop and have the weld and repaint both fenders and put supports in so that doesn't happen again. Now they look great but that was another $1500

I wouldn't buy anything with Yelvington again. I know the make reverse trike sets for Harley's but from what i have seen if the same people run the company Harley is in for some recalls.

Other than that I love my trike. My Burgman the bike is great. kind of interested in buying a Spyder so will see. Hope you fare well with you trike from Trinity or the newer company. Don't look for any help from them as they are out of the trike business and I can see why.
