Default Thinking of getting a Stallion

I currently ride a yamaha roadstar with a champion trike kit but am having problems with my shoulders and getting too painful to ride my trike. I think with a steering wheel like the stallion has would be much more comfortable for me as driving a car is fine with my shoulders. I would like any pros or cons on the stallion and also where is a good place to fine a used one at a fair price because I don't have a ton of money being retired.

From time to time there are Stallions on eBay. Occasionally someone will list one on this forum. I just checked the classified section and didn't see any. One thing with a Stallion is you need to be somewhat of a handyman.

Most maintenance tasks can be performed by anyone with little better than average mechanical ability. Getting repairs performed by a shop isn't that easy as there aren't that many of them on the road. There never has been a shop manual available.

When we have problems we can't figure out, we have to call the factory. They are very helpful most of the time. They are pretty good at supplying parts information, but we have to go through a shop to order parts.

If you are looking for something with a steering wheel, a Polaris Slingshot might be an option. You will never be far from a Polaris dealer. That's my 2 cents worth. Good luck!!

I've had mine since March '09 and yes there have been a couple of problems here and there but, that can happen with any vehicle. Yes it is nice to have some mechanical knowledge but not that important. I have found that there are more shops out there who will work with you once you drive up, show them the vehicle and let them know that most parts are right off a Ford Ranger. As far as the Slingshot goes, remember that it is 1 foot wider and 2 feet longer than the Stallion so it is big and you might have an issue getting in and out with your shoulder so try it a few times first.

The Stallion also comes with a trailer hitch which the Slingshot does not.
Good luck in which ever way you decide. They are all good choices, just different to the individual buying it.

The wife loves our Stallion. I prefer the Goldwing, but there's a lot to be said for heat and air conditioning. Plus, it is a more comfortable ride, most notably for the passenger. I find the front seat to be a bit uncomfortable, but that is more due to my height and a hip joint problem than the front seat.

Also, when driving a car I use my right foot for braking so having to use the left foot with the Stallion takes some adapting - I've goosed the engine more than one time while meaning to be stopping or slowing down. Since the steering wheel tilts, it's easy to find a position where you can keep your arms and shoulders relaxed while driving.

We also have a trailer which is essential for extended trips as the truck is too small to pack much. Motor Trike has been very helpful with issues and, fortunately, they aren't that far away from us if more serious things pop-up. We had some issues after riding through the remnants of a tropical storm (frog strangling rain) and took the unit to Troup.

Most things corrected themselves once the unit dried out, but they did some other repairs I wanted done plus a number of upgrades at no cost for parts or labor without being asked.

My wife has had 2 Her first unit 175 she put 15k on it in a year. It had a wiring harness problem while we were on a trip so we purchased another 406 and traded in 175. She has 85k on this one. Its been all over the lower 48 and several eastern parts of Canada. She loves it. Getting ready for our fall ride to the Ga. Mountains.

It good to be able to work on the Stallion if something comes up but most of the time you can find a shop that can help. Getting on and off the Stallion takes a little time getting use to just like anything new will. I did get to sit in a Slingshot and it was a little trouble for me but that would not stop me from getting one if I wanted it. You can find Stallions on ebay at times and on Craigslist if you look far enough. I've enjoyed out Stallion and would buy a new one if they still made them.

Default 2013 Black Stallion going up for sale this winter - #805

Our Stallion is going up for sale this winter: can no longer ride. If interested, please post reply. Black Cherry, extremely low mileage, excellent condition.

I liked the Stallion a lot and even considered buying one. Instead I bought a Polaris Slingshot. Couple of reasons I went this route, one was costs. I got a new ride with a Slingshot opposed to a used Stallion for less money. The fact that the Stallion was no longer in production had a bearing on my decision too. There were pros & cons for both machines. But in the end the SS won out. Wife & I are totally happy with our decision.

I have a stallion with around 60000 miles on it. Have had some troubles with it but still love it. However not being able to work on it myself due to physical limitations and knowledge, I decided to keep it for shows and short rides. I went out and bought a slingshot the other day and love it also. My wife likes it as she doesn't have to look at the back of my helmet all the time. Both of them draw a lot of attention, with the stallion getting more questions.

Bottom line try to ride them both and get what you want, As many have said before me this forum will give all the help they can and more. Good luck.
