Ed, what is the VIN# of your bike? Has it had all the updates? including ladder bars, front bearings, etc...?

Letting me know that would let me know where to start when it comes to repairs and upgrades. Just curious. There are a few updates that TBMS has implemented that I was wondering about.

I am familiar with the DVD's mentioned above for the Gold Wing and the author of those DVD's. Now, the way he gets around any copyright infringement is by placing a notice at the beginning of each DVD that is strictly for entertainment only. Only factory authorized procedures should be used. In our case, there is no factory authorized procedure that I am aware of.

278 is the last three numbers and I had the ladder bars replaced last fall and the front bearings were replaced spring 2012. I bought the Stallion and it had 3500 miles on it about three years ago. I don't know of any other updates my Stallion has. Do you have any ideal how long this will take if TMS agrees?

Ed, the time would all depend on how much depth I needed to go. I would try to accomodate as much information as possible. Not sure if owners would rather have a book version or video version of the repairs. I would surely try to include as much information as possible for most repairs.

    Kevin,

If you were to ask me, my personal choice would be for a video version or hands on approach, if you will. Seeing a procedure done by video has the advantage of both a narrative AND a visual. Just MHO!!!

MHO is Service Manuals if written well are best because you can read a sentence over and over until you got it. Re winding to see it over and over is harder. Both would me asking to much. The real issue is what Kevin is willing to do. Either way I will be a customer.

This is just my opinion, I think every Stallion owner out there should want one of these. Your Stallion might be under a warranty now but when that runs out you might want to do some of the maintenance yourself. Like in my case I like doing things myself and without a manual that helps me with things like what the tork should be on the front wheel bearing. Well without a manual I'm just hoping that I get them tighten enough or not over tighten. I have worked on every vehicle I've ever owned and like the Goldwing I had, I had a maintenance manual that I could look at to see how and what needed to be done to get the job done right.

Here is my suggestion: Call and ask Richard for the spec's on the trike. as in wheel torque, torque on bolts, etc. What brake pads are best recommended by the factory, etc.

Then PM them to those who are interested in the spec's. That way no one is infringing on TBMS.

The owners manual has all the location of all the fuses and what each one does and what it protects. Pretty through there.

As for being able to locate what wire color goes to each fuse that would be a very time consuming endevor. But could be done.

I for one hate the way the driver's backrest fits in the metal slot. It is too low and trying to find the slot after you take it out can be a real pain in the butt. I for one will be going to a welding shop to make it work better for me. Also will come up with a way to make it adjustable. It is not rocket science but it could have been built better.

I would like to see TBMS come up with a higher windshield for us tall riders.

About 4" more would be perfect and would probably not hurt the short riders either.

    That's my 3 cents worth.

Ok folks, The manual is going to be a much needed item for the Stallion. At this moment, I am still verifying that I will not be doing anything that will cause me legal trouble. But, I need you guys to make a forum thread letting me know the most common repairs needed and requested. The book is going to be a work in progress but I am trying to make it to where the first draft would be ready around spring time. Any information that you guys request, I will will make sure to try and include. The wiring will be the longest and most difficult part. But i plan on making a custom wiring manual for both older and newer Stallions, since they had 2 different wiring harness. As for the specs, I have the specs already.

Thanks for taking on this project. Let me know when I can send you a deposit on the manual. I have added a post on the new thread and will keep thinking of more.

I have had 2 people offer me their Stallions for this project, which is fantastic. I need to verify which wiring harness each Stallion has. When I tear into the bike to do the wiring, I will include 2 different versions of the diagrams, 1 for the older harness, and 1 for the new type. If both bikes have the same wiring harness, I will need a donor bike which has the "other" harness installed in it. I would like to Thank Ed and Charlie for offering their Stallions for this project. It will be a work in progress, but I will do my best to get all Stallion owners something that is useful and helpful. Thanks to everybody for your support!

Default Instrument Cluster lights don’t work

Quote Originally Posted by StallionTech View Post

The hard part about it was trying to write a step-by-step manual while working full time everyday. The Stallion can be a nightmare to work on sometimes, but it can also be fairly easy. One of the most frustrating things to service is the wiring. there are factory wiring diagrams for later model stallions. I will have to do some searching in all my paperwork, but there was anewer style wiring harness installed in the Stallion after a certain VIN number. I know all of this, because i was there...lol. We went through alot of changes to try and make the Stallion easy to service. The earlier VIN #'s did use the wiring schematic of the ford ranger. Alot of dealerships do not like to work on them because they simply know NOTHING about the trike, except for the motor and transmission. That is why I work on them in my shop, if needed. I know the bike and understand the bike. If you can find a good trustworthy shop or mechanic to work on it, then keep em. I have always told members on here that I will help anytime I can. I do have alot of information and paperwork from my notes. The people a TBMS have always done a great job with helping customers in any way possible. If that doesnt seem to help, please feel free to contact me.
    kevin,

I was looking at some old posts and found yours of above. I have an 08 (169) and I am having electrical issues, i.e. the instrument cluster lights will not work, speedometer and tach do not work, and the check engine light is on. This occurred as a result of my negligent getting a hot wire into a ground. Are you still knowledgeable on these trikes, and if so can you assist me, either through this forum or in your shop? I have checked the under-the-seat fuses, and those below the air filter, and I could not locate a blown fuse. I am at a loss. any assistance is appreciated. Thanks. Randal
