Best Rear Tires for a GL 1800 Trike Conversion

I've read many responses re: the best tire to use on the front, but have seen no advice re: what tires to use on the back of an GL 1800 trike. I'm about to convert my new 2015 GL 1800 using a HTS Roadsmith & would like some advice for the rear tires. I have decided to use the Avon Cobra 71 Trike tire on the front after viewing this forum. Thanks for any responses. I'm new to this forum but have already found it very informative & very helpful to someone new to the trike scene

Welcome to Trike Talk Mark! As you have already seen, there is a ton of knowledge around here and a bunch of folks more than willing to share. We hope you will jump in and become a part of the mix.

I converted my 2015 not quite two years ago now and the rear tires show no sign of ware so you are looking years down the road before needing replacements. The way tire manufacturing goes these days any tire being made today will probably not be around come replacement time. When you do need them, look for radial tire with high speed rating (usually indicates stronger sidewall), good rain shedding ability, and as quiet as possible. I realize the last two will sort of battle each other but there is a happy medium somewhere.

The tires supplied with the HTS kit, probably Kuhmo, are good tires.

General rule I use is: 1) Traction rating 2) Water shedding ability.

I don't need high speed tires on the trike and the water shedding ability is critical as trikes are very prone to hydroplaning.

I switched tires before necessary just because and went to the Michelin MXV4 which is no longer made.

Any good touring tire for a performance sedan will provide adequate specs for a trike's needs, IMO.

I had some brand I never heard of on my Hannigan. Took them off at 48K because I was going on a long trip and didn't want to buy them on the road. I'm not tire picky for the most part and just put a tire on that will shed water to help reduce hydroplaning. Rears are cheap compared to the front.

Thanks to all the above prompt responses. It's really great that others with similar interests are so willing to share their knowledge.
I should start other threads, but in case any of you have experience with swapping out the OEM high & low beam headlights & tail brake/stop lights with LEDs (in my case from SoCalMotoGear) or knowledge of the Bluetooth TPMS by FoBo I would appreciate hearing of your thoughts on those subjects.
