Default Stupid question of the day.

Does the Gold Wing have an oil change reminder light or warning??
Just asking as I have no owners manual. Ive found MT disconnects a few things during their conversions.
I do not change my oil at regular intervals. More like when I feel its been long enough. Or as Im now well over the 5k mark with Aimsoil. Which in reality should be good for 10K plus. Im not aware of what the suggested oil change interval actually is when using a syth in this bike.

I think Honda says change oil & filter @ 8,000 miles...but using Amsoil I would go to 10,000 miles, with changing the filter @ 5,000 miles.

Short answer is no. I change mine short of 8K (book says 8K) and ride it.

Pretty much what I have been doing in my other bikes over the years. Change filter at 5K. Oil at 7500 miles. But those have all been big dirty V-Twins. Wasn't as sure with a Honda.

You can download a maintenance manual as well as an owners manual at this link. If you don't want to download it can be viewed at the site. Bookmark! If you click on a page it will enlarge. I personally think it is a pretty handy link, but I finely purchased one from Honda for convenience.

Being old school 4k changes with syn. Oil and filter $15-$20. Blown motor and being stuck on the road will ruin your day, not to mention the future agravation and expence😎

I can understand old skool but Ive been using synth for over 30 years and 7500 mile changes. Both cars and most newer bikes. Never did buy into the 3-4K changes mind set. 60s engines maybe, but not since late 70s plus engines anyway.

I agree I have 2003 Honda element with 150,000 miles on it, I only use Amsoil & only change the oil every 25,000 miles, I change the filter every 5,000. The car runs like new & doesn't use any oil & I can look at the valve springs thru the hole where the oil is poured into the engine & everything looks as it did when I brought the car new..

Many, many, many, well you get the drift, claim Amsoil is the #1 oil to use, bar NONE.
I've been an Amsoil user since 1982 without an engine failure due to an oil issue & would wholeheartedly recommend Amsoil synthetic to anyone who wants multi miles out of their engine, provided their engine is/was healthy at the time of change to Amsoil.

The company is so confident of their quality that they will stand behind their product 100%.
I'm not an Amsoil dealer nor am I on Amsoil's payroll, but how many other oil manufacturers/distributors will make the same claim???

Still stickin with my insane thinking. When i bought my diesel truck, i was told about the 12k oil change schedule. Descided to do it at 5k. Sorry, but it just did not feel like oil any more. This old dog just can't change into most modern reasonings . Saseach his own.

I wonder what ever happened to the touted mileage between changes when Mobile 1 was first introduced
The hype was one could run this miracle lube for 25K, CHANGE the filter, add a quart(cage filters held a quart back then) and run another 25K before a complete change.
And then there was HD who advised synthetic oil in their motors was a no-no until they came out with their own (Syn 3), which one could use in all 3 places(motor, primary and tranny).
This will undoubtedly turn this into another oil thread however, I realized the smoothest shifts ever in my Wing after trying the Mobile 1 T4 for motorcycles!
My local AutoZone carries it and the correct oil filter for my Wing.
I change oil and filter @ 10K intervals, whenever that occurs, regardless of how long it takes. Don't get to ride as many miles as I use to due to wife's health issues. Yes, it can set over the winter, in a heated garage, on a battery tender, with Sea Form in the fuel!

Use one of those toilet paper oil filters. No changes required.

A waste of good oil in my opinion, but we all have our way of doing things.

I found the same thing last year. After using Rotella T6 for many years in various bikes, the M-1 4T sure surprised me with the smoothest shifts I've ever had. I'd never have tried it if the parts store hadn't been out of Rotella.

But, I'm still old school, change oil & filter at 5k miles, knowing that if I do go over a few miles, I'm ok.

Well typical "oil" thread this hasnt been.
I appreciate all the thoughts you guys have.
Maybe I might have been dead wrong but I dont feel I have been.
Over 20 vehicles over a 30 year period and Im sticking to my original operation.
7500 miles, change filter and top off at 5k.
What made me ask is. With my Yamaha V Twin its been years since Ive changed the oil.
Im always time over mileage and dont feel as though Im hurting anything.
    Thanks folks for your replies.
