For those with the 02-05 GW is the sound from radio adequate at highway speeds without radio headsets in helmets? Some places I've read about it makes it seem like not even able to hear the older ones at speeds above 55 without headsets

Read through the FAQ'S on this page about upgrade options: http://wingconnect.com/FAQ.html

I had a 2004 Wing and rode it until 2014. Never had a issue with speakers. Plenty loud. Had several friends that also had Wings in those years. Never had an issue with speakers not being loud enough. Mine were so loud I even blew 2 speakers. The only reason I upgraded speakers was so I could make sure they were warranteed not to blow. Been riding Wings for 34 years and never heard of speakers not being loud enough.
Thanks for reply. Reason I ask is looking to buy GW trike and several say the 06 & newer have much better sound due to bigger amp. I'm coming frombikes that never had radios. Found good deal on 04 & 02 trikes. Figured I will be pleased with the older versions
Well, the bikes from 06 and newer do have a better speaker system, ( I have a 2012), but I really don't notice any big difference, and I play my tunes LOUD! LOL Even if it were an issue, don't not buy a good Trike just because of the speakers. J&M can sell you a pair of great speakers at a very reasonable cost. IF there was a problem. Enjoy
That solves that concern. Thankyou
It is a problem on 01-05 Goldwings that the audio was not quite to to par in the volume of the radio. I have an 02 and I had to add a amp to help with the volume. Check this website for more info on the radio, www.Wing Connect.com. He works on GW radios and cures the problem with the volume.
I've had two wings a 2002 and now my 2010 (the 10 is in the shop getting triked out as we speak).......... never a problem with speakers with either of them....
Gotta have my rock n roll cranking!
I'm 66 yrs old, and still love the loud Led Jepplin music

No its NOT...
you can either go the www.wingconnect.com route
Or add an auxillary amp... (I reccomment the fosgate punch 4x amp)
but in EITHER case the crappy speaker that are OEM must go
Rake...
Never had it....
Never will...
