Since as a Reserve, I did exactly the same job and took the same chances as a "real' officer, I decide the BK's would get along very well without me.
Nothing wrong with being an associate member. Regular members must be retired, disabled or other wise paid to protect and serve. 32 hours a week or more.
International Rules. I am a family member, wife of a retired LEO.. Doesn't matter to me...it is a great group of people and a brotherhood and sisterhood each looking out for the other. I really like that. I could be a prospect for associate member, as I am also an auxiliary deputy but I mainly take my duties as the wife of a full member and am proud of that. No one is treated any differently in our club. Like I said, they often ask me to lead the group rides. Mainly, because I am sedate and keep the pace at the legal speed limit. Cops or not, they can get "quick" at times and when I am up front, that don't happen Jack! LOL!

Good for you, go for it.
I was made to feel less than "a real one". Probably just the 2 or 3 I talked to and not typical. But if walks like duck and talks like a duck then its probably should be given the status of a duck!

Honestly, I think that sucks! I went through the academy just like all the rest of the deputies with full powers of arrest. Just because we keep jobs that actually pay well and volunteer on our free time, doesn't make us any less of a LEO. Actually, I think we need to be commended!!!! I don't volunteer any more, because of the attitudes of the actual enforcement agency.... So once qualifications come up again, I won't be there.

It always amazes me! Some guy that rides his two wheeler 3000 miles a year and I ride my Trike 15,000 miles a year thinks he is a rider!

It always amazes me that I wear soft shoes and shorts to ride and he dresses up like a pirate and he thinks he's styling!

It always amzes me that I ride down the highway and I wave at every kind of motorcycle out there and some two-wheelers look the other way! They probably are on America's Most Wanted list.

It always amazes me that people are so small that they can't be friends and just say HI!

    Angry Re Blue Knights qualifications

Well I became an officer in 1960, went through the academy. Been a patrolman, a Chief of Police, an Alcohol Beverage Commission Agent, Patrolman again, then Director of a 15th Judicial Drug Task Force, Detective, and retired as an Evidence Custodian with the rank of Lieutenant. I am now a Criminal Court Officer. I can but do not carry a gun. I leave that up to uniformed deputies that guard my judge. I keep order amongst the spectators and am unarmed and doubt if I even have powers of arrest anymore unless you are showing your azz in my courtroom and even at 73 yrs. of age I am still not afraid to take you on bare handed. There are other
LEO motorcycle clubs that I have been asked to join, but currently I have not accepted any. But after wearing a badge (I still do, but a Court Officer badge) for 50 years if they would not accept me, then I can easily tell them what they can kiss and it won't be my foot!

    Jenkinsrawhide,

Read this. If you meet these very simple requirements, then you can be a member of the Blue Knights.

Briefly, to qualify for membership you must:

    1. Be an active full or part time law enforcement officer with powers of arrest
    2. Be employed by a governmental agency and receive monetary compensation, or be a retired or disabled former law enforcement officer
    3. Possess a valid license to operate a motorcycle
    4. Own a motorcycle or plan to purchase one within six months.

There is very little difference in the BK's between Regular and Associate membership.

I have ridden with the PGR, Bk's, Southern Cruisers, Cristian MC clubs and some other not so nice folks.

I have not heard anything against trikes. You may get teased a little for having training wheels but who cares. I ride what I can, how I can.

I Enjoy riding with everyone that knows how to ride

If you have to join to ride with them, that's their loss.

They are all good groups for different reasons.

I have never experenced what you are writting about. Never had any problems with any club, including most 1% clubs. Most other bikers wave and those that don't I just figure are afraid to remove their hand from the handle bars or are just stuck up.
I will admit there are those in a certain Gold Wing Association that look down on a three-wheeler and make comments about them.

The American Legion Riders have respect for anyone on a bike, you are a member if you were active service , Your an aux if you are related to a service man . All the way to gramps in the 1st World War. You are a supporter if you were married to a deceased or divorced from a service person. All have the same respect down to the guy riding a 350 cc motorcycle

I forgot to mention the clubs that I do belong! I was so excited to be able to trash people that are not trike friendly Excuse me for going off the deep end! It just makes me mad when I really do believe that we all ride motorcycles but if you don't have one like everyone elses you are sub-standard. Now that my rant is over!!!

I belong to GWRRA. I go to a breakfast evry month with about 30 other GW riders. I get offers to go on rides with them twice a week! Great organization! We go to dinner once a month with group. No monthly fees!

I belong to TRI but I have never gone and met with them. Only because they are on the other side of the state. Seem like good people! Nice Rally coming up!

I also ride with another un-organized group. We call ourselves the Geritol/Viagra gang! Only 4 of us but we have a lot of fun!

You didn't mention TrikeTalk people, Boscoporp! We like you, no matter what kind of trike you ride. And we like your trike too...and that cute little trailer ... and your Margaritas (but that's another story...).

"BINGO" Stan....in my 40+ years of ridin' 25,000 to 40,000+ miles per year, I never have been able to figure out all the segregation....Sport Bikes, Choppers, Cruisers, Trikes, Sport Tourers, Tourers, etc., we all share common ground, and one Group is "NOT" superior to the Others, except in Their own minds in some cases.....:wtg:
