Years of Grease Coming Off

Well jacked up rear of new to me trike and started degreasing the CSC rear suspension. Not sure if 7 years would result in the grease being somewhat heavy and stubborn to remove but 1 bottle of Purple Power and lots of rags one side is clean. Down to the grey paint and red CV boots. Not sure if its normal or if previous owner had a CV boot tear but its evenly coated on both sides. Couldn't see any drips. Grease was really stubborn to remove almost dried if that's possible.

Why would it be coated with grease???
My Hannigan was given shots of grease in the zerk fittings as required and there is none on the "outside" anywhere.

You might check the level in your rearend. A friend of mine has a 2008 CSC trike and when he changed the fluid in the rearend he slightly over filled it and when he rode it came out the vent. Drained some out and it quit.

Over filling is a sure way of the Gear Lube coming out the vent.

I'll check it. Grease was all over the a arm joints from over greased I suspect. Trike overall in excellant condition and always maintained at dealer. 3 ring binder thats about 4" thick with everything that was ever bought or done to it.

Any ideas on best way to get it up high enough & level to check rear end fluid? I had a bike jack under center of rear last night cleaning but not sure how to get front up to level it

You can use 3 car ramps. A little scary the first few times you do it.....but it does the job!
There are handy guys on the forum that have made wooden ramps that work well......hopefully someone will come along and post pictures!

I often use ramps. I usually just put the rear wheels up on ramps, either my short wooden 7" high ones or even way up on my Rhino-ramps.

If I want all three up there, I get the rears up on a set of ramps first ..... then set trike in low gear or reverse ..... and then use a floor jack with wooden block under engine and jack front up to place that tire on a third ramp.

I back it up usually with engine running, in neutral, reverse engaged, me beside it on right pushing start button (reverse now on a 1500) as I pull up and back on right side passenger grab rail. With no load it's a quick trip to back up.

Other times I jack it up in center and either place jack stands under the solid axle's tubes .... or slide low ramps under tires when clear ..... and then maybe jack further until I can slide taller Rhino-ramps under the tires in place of the low wooden ones.

Never do I crawl under any vehicle with just a jack.

By using blocks under front do you use bottom of engine to place them since it hangs below frame rails. I have a 1500 lb motorcycle floor lift I used on my last 2 wheeler

I place a inch+ thick piece of plywood (2 pieces glued together) that is maybe 12" x 12" or so on top of the jack's lifting pad under the engine / trans bottom. Likely a piece of thick rubber is just as good.

I think the padded arm of your cycle jack that goes across ways is OK ..... I have used that but find a small 1.5 ton aluminum floor jack is handier.

I've never used my cycle jack to lift the whole trike. I have used it for the 1200 bike.

Going to go small floor jack route. My bike jack won't clear the aqua shields. Got plenty of wood blocks and scraps.

If you are using ramps for the first time.....line you wheels up to the ramps....then look at one of your rear wheels as you ride up the ramps....You will easily see when to stop!.....

Don't like driving up on ramps weather it be car or bike. Worked good with jack and BIG blocks of wood under each wheel. Plenty of room to roll around under it
