Has any one added backup lights to the GL1800 trike?
Would sure like to know how you did it.

    WHY !!!
Did you need them when you had two wheels?
What are the advantages of backup lights on a Trike?

Not sure why a person would need them but would think they should be easy to install. I would think a person could make a bracket to come off the receiver to hold the lights if you don't have a bumper or you could get a white LED strip with adhesive back on it and wire in a 12 volt relay with a switch to turn on. Good luck on your project and let us know how it works out.

Wish i had some kind of back-up lights [Automatically turned on] on my Tri-Glide, Quite often when backing out of a spot people don't notice that you are backing out and will drive right by as you are rolling back... The Spyder i had would when in reverse automatically turn on the 4 ways, And that got most peoples attention And they would let you back out....Especially if their looking for a parking space them self.....

I'm sure you could wire a light into the reverse switch but the easy way would be to wire in a couple LED strips with a switch that could be turned on/off whenever needed. Having a light back there would be useful when hooking up a trailer in the dark as well.

For reverse lights, below are instructions and a diagram most trikes use. The reverse circuit only includes the 4 wires coming from the rely at the lower right.

Note: these reverse lights only work after the Rev/on switch is pushed to the on position, and the start button engaged. In other words, as the trike begins to backup.

    1. Route the three wires for the reverse lights from the body to the left side of the motorcycle frame towards the battery box.

    2. Locate the black boot above the starter solenoid. There will be a red two prong connector that has a yellow wire with a red tracer, and a brown wire with a red tracer.

    3. Using a Scotchlok crimp connector, crimp the yellow wire with the red tracer from the trike body wiring harness to the yellow wire with a red tracer in that connector.

    4. Route the red wire with the fuse holder to the (+) positive side of the battery.

    5. Route the white wire in the trike body wiring harness to the NEGATIVE side of the battery.

back up lights could be a plus. but the other half of the equation is the cages moving up and down looking for a spot. even in a cage trying to back out I have seen that they don't stop or slow down even when you are already backing out.

Backing in to a dark garage comes to mind. I added them to my quad and use them all the time.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Thanks Greg worked perfectly, i hid the lights in front of the real axles on the aqua board mounting bolts with a bracket i made and it gives me enough lite to back in to my dark garage at night.

    Thanks again
