Okay boys and girls...I'm trying another product (I know you're shocked). It's a beard balm, and I'm gonna try it. I ordered the unscented version. One good thing about it is they offer a full money back guarantee if I'm not satisfied.

It should be on my front door step tomorrow.

You can send me the unused portion. I'm sure you won't like it.

Balms are just a mixture of shea butter and bees wax and other goodies like coconut oil by some. Depends on the maker. You can add your own scent if there is something you really like. It's actually fun making different kinds. I've had a beard for so long I think I've tried everything. But I can says this for sure. It's a rip-off just how much they charge for the stuff. I still mostly use VO5. But you can sure have fun making your own.

I'd rib you a little, but you must use the regular and I have no clue what it smells like. Guess I'll have to check it out next time I need some of that stinky stuff.

Can't tell you today, because Amazon lied about when it would get to me. Won't get here until Monday or Tuesday now.

Wal-Mart of all places has one if you want to get with it. I can't remember the name. If I remember correctly it's in a red/white/black tin.

I have noticed that some products will definitely yellow your beard. One I used gave mine a brassy dull look. If your beard is mostly light grey or white you will find out. Mine has white, light grey and some brown mixed in. Im going to try letting mine grow out if I can leave it alone long enough.

I've never done it but I've heard you can put a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and spray your beard until real wet in the morning before your shower. Then go to the library for 15 minutes. When done take your shower and put non-yellowing balms or oil back on.

I have no idea how it works but read that you don't want to do it more than once a month. Seems like too much trouble to me but to get back to white it might be worth it. Mines just grey and will probably never be white. Too many black and dark browns in there anyway if it tried to turn.

Many different things you can use to remove stains from your beard. Take your pick.

    http://www.hairboutique.com/blogs_p/...how-to-remove/

If the facial hair is gray use a blue based shampoo designed to brighten and whiten gray hair. You can buy these types of shampoos at beauty supply stores. If you are unsure about the blue based shampoo option ask your hairdresser for a product recommendation designed to brighten gray hair and bring out the whites.

Yellow Based Or Color Enhancing ShampooIf your hair is blonde or white instead of gray opt for a shampoo designed to enhance the blonde or the white shades.

Baking Soda PasteAnother option is to make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stained areas of your facial hair. Leave the mixture on the stained facial hair areas for up to 30 minutes. Rinse and check the stains. Using a paste of baking soda may take more than one application to get your facial hair to a point it’s unstained.

Smoker’s Toothpaste Mixed With Baking Soda PasteA smoker’s toothpaste can also be applied to the facial hair and allowed to remain for up to 15 minutes. This option may also require repeated applications, but should work since it’s designed to remove nicotine stains to smoker’s teeth. To amp up the impact of the smoker’s toothpaste add a little baking soda and water to make a paste and apply.

Hydrogen PeroxideAlthough some home remedies include using peroxide this is usually not the best choice. If you decide to go with this option use hydrogen peroxide which has mild bleaching properties but not hair bleach.Never use traditional hair bleach used for the hair on your facial hair. Brush hydrogen peroxide onto facial hair with a clean new toothbrush and allow it to sit for several minutes before rinsing. Rinse well.

Facial Hair BleachFacial hair bleach is used by women to lighten facial hair. This bleach can be utilized to remove nicotine stains on facial hair.

Mustache Hair BleachThere are commercial hair bleaches designed specifically to remove stains from mustache and related facial hair. Mustache hair bleaches are similar to facial hair bleach used by women.

VinegarVinegar dabbed on cotton balls and applied to nicotine stains often remove them quickly. If not, try repeated applications.

Fresh LemonsCut half a lemon and rub through the stained facial hair. Allow the juice to soak into the stain for 15 to 30 minutes. Lemon is a natural astringent and will cleanse naturally without being overly drying.

PotatoesTry using a potato for nicotine stain removal. Cut a potato in half. Rub it into the stained facial hair. Allow the juice from the potato to set for up to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Aspirin MixDissolve an aspirin tablet into one cup of hot water. Do not use a coated headache pill but an old fashioned aspiring. Avoid making the water too hot so that it will burn your fingers or skin.Use clean cotton balls and soak into the aspirin mixture. Dab the aspirin coated water onto the facial hair stains. Allow to soak for up to 30 minutes. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Prevention And Maintenance Is KeyOnce you have eliminated all the stains it’s important to maintain stain free facial hair.Coat your facial hair with a leave-in conditioning product every day after washing your face. A conditioning product will create a barrier to the nicotine preventing it from soaking into the hair. Applying a thin coat of Vitamin E will also help provide a natural nicotine barrier. To prevent nicotine stains on hair around the face always apply a good leave-in conditioner to block absorption of nicotine.

Okay bearded ones, I'm back to report. For the last couple of days I was way busy, and the grooming of my beard suffered (meaning no balm or oil).

It truly showed me how much of a difference there was sans product. I itched like crazy by the second day, and didn't realize why until I opened the medicine cabinet and saw the Honest Amish beard balm, and Rogue beard oil staring back at me when I got out of the
    shower before going to work.

I put a little of each in the old beard tonight, and haven't felt the urge to scratch once since! So there you have it folks, beard balm/oil is worth something at least.

So I guess this means I won't be receiving any left-over products. Darn. Was looking forward to sampling a store bought balm rather than my own homemade and VO5. Well just go ahead and enjoy my almost balm.

Actually if you wear glasses you'll have to clean them just to see where you are going. That is if you have a adult beard. Mine whips up all over the glasses and leaves oil all over them unless I control it somehow. Neck gator works fine in winter. I got to see if I can find one of those things they force people in the food processing industry to cover beards for summer. Or get my wife to make one. She makes a similar one for her long hair. What's the difference I'm thinking. Instead of on the back I'll just use it backwards in the front. Anyone try a hair net? I can't be the only one with a long beard.

I am letting the beard go long and the hair too ...

One question ... does the long beard and hair (right now I'm at about two inches on both .. hair grows really slowly since the tummy surgery) have any impact on wearing a helmet ... I only wear one on long trips, but I have one coming up in May.

I've also started using Cremo Beard oil (bought at Wally World) and the rash under the beard is healing nicely ... LOL

I've considered their balm. Let us know how the oil works. I've never smelled the stuff. Does it have an oder?
