I also enjoy reading up on technical specs related to VW engines, & trike builds.
Unfortunately my technical expertise level is not as high as others here, so some of it is a bit foreign to me.

I apologize upfront on the following, for introducing something that may or may not apply:
I do have a suggestion for what its worth, take it or leave it:
On the front page there should be some type of legal disclaimer to hold harmless anyone contributing information in the case of someone using said info & hurting themselves or someone else. This disclaimer might also include TT & its administrative membership?
One cannot be too careful in this day & age of completely senseless litigation.
Just trying to cover all bases...

Getting a stroker crank into the case.

It is possible to hand fit a stroker crank by hand grinding. The smaller 74, 76, 78mm cranks you could probably do with a large dremel trial and error style. Lay the crank in the bearings on one case half and rotate and mark, remove and grind.

Bigger could be done the same way with a more aggressive tool like a die grinder. It takes a lot of time to do any of it like this by hand.

If your case needs other machine work just pick a shop that can clearance cut the inside.

    Clearance cut areas.

    Different cases.

There is the early cases up to the 1200 40hp.

If this is what you have then you should stay stock to near stock. Just not much otherwise on parts.

After that point starting with the 1300 the engines are all related. But not all are hot rod material.

If you have a case with the 6mm (10mm wrench) oil pump studs it has the smaller oil ports.

Makes a fine stockish engine, but not a hot rod. These were mostly 1300 and early 1500 single port engines.

Of the large bolt oil pump cases there are several.

But there are 2 major ones to look for.

The most desirable is the as41 casting.

The second most desirable is the as 21

Here's a shot at a way to link to specific topics within a thread (i.e., tech thread). The challenge then is how to keep replys aligned to each topic. For example how do you keep additional inputs/comments/questions aligned with a topic once the current discussions move on to other areas?

Note - just doing this as a test as well. Maybe one of our Admins would kindly erase these few replys once we've had time to respond to them (in the Group section).

Of those you also want the dual relief.

This is the latest oil improvement vw did to these.

It seperates the oil cooler bypass and the oil pressure bypass.

A single relief can be made to work with more modifying.

The single type is more of a three way valve and it makes getting oil pressure and oil cooler flow to balance. You can "full flow" the case and run the cooler there and use the relief for pressure only.

I am still thinking of a main thread that is all links to the topical thread of specific items.

My thoughts were to include all the tech links in the original post under the different hidden "spoiler" tags.

That would allow each tag to show a specific tech. IE "suspension" or "Engine" or "Transmission" or "Front end and rake."

It would make it easier for someone looking for a specific technical link to just open up whichever hidden tag. It would keep the links separated and clean.

And, sorry I haven't been very active on here lately. Have been repairing a ton of messed up mangled threads from the forum conversions.

    Inspect the main bearing saddles.

They take a beating, especially of you are hot rodding a non counter weighted crank.

I am gonna link this back to here.

    Luis only posted once here.
But here is his sequential shifter. One of them is here in the forum being used towards a custom build.

Luis is a friendly guy, he is in Brazil but speaks English fine. His you tube stuff is in Portuguese though.

Look up Luis Antonio and ask the questions. I can hook you up to him if needs be. I actually have his engineering files (he directly gave them to me) but I would prefer if yall contact him yourself. He never did go production on the vw shifter.

Just like a motocycle but in trike form typically a lot less trail.
Rake....not no big deal. Make it what you want it to look like. You may effect turning radius but drivability will be ok.
Trail....the big deal. No matter what rake angle you choose the trail must be right. Typically around 2 inches or even less.

I have a 97 or 98 Harley FLH front forks & tire assembly
from a heritage softail fatboy, is what I was told anyway, there are no markings on either TTree that I can tell.....
does seem to have a slight angle difference to the neck shaft.
I have to have a new neck tube welded on to the trikes frame to work with this front end & i'm needing help figuring out the correct angle to have it welded at.... can you give me any help in what I need, & what I need to do to make this front assembly work on my vw trike?
