Size: 66.9 KB this is what I'm working on. I've removed the forks in this picture because the bearings were froze up. & I wanted a heavier looking front end. I found a 1997 or 98 FLH front forks & tire off of a heritage softail fatboy is what I'm told Here are some Pics of what I have..

Size: 289.7 KBI've read "SO Many" opinions & thoughts on trike Trail & Rake ...that I'm So Lost Now, because it seems you can go either way.
Heres what I need ... I have lost the use of my Bicep in rt arm, from nerve damage from a bike wreck in 2000. can't lift it straight up in front of me. But I have good hand & finger strength So I need somewhat easy turning, I can add a steering damper I've been told, But another thing I'm up against is I'm now on disability, Meaning i'm on limited income too....
Butt I Want this done right, the 1st Time.....If possible ....lol
I have the new Neck tube & a shop to weld it on free for me Donate their time to help me out, I need an angle for rake & Trail, to give them, Please Give some good input this subject from your working knowledge...

Before our tech experts begin asking several dimensional questions (and we will need them before we can advise you), I recommend that you take a few minutes and review the following link:

    http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/rakeandtrail.html

Gather all the particular dimensions as defined at the 'trail calculator' near the bottom of the page and post those pertinent measurements in a post here. We can go from there to hopefully help you. By the way, your forks are not FLH, but from the FLS line (if a Fatboy, likely an FLSTF). That is significant primarily due to the differences in the fork tube 'offset' and the overall forks length.

Also, in addition to the measurements cited in the webpage, how high is the bottom rail of the frame when it is level measured from the floor?

Undoubtedly you will have a truckload of other technical questions as you build, and this is the absolute best source for knowledgeable and experienced experts anxious to help.

And as I always say, all advice is guaranteed or your money back!

Also go through the Tech Tech Tech thread.
I tryed to give some examples of what rake and trail do.
Once you get the numbers collected we can help you with the math.
As a very very general rule, just basic average motorcycle front end vs what is needed for a trike. You would need to un-rake it a few degrees from what the original bike was.
But do NOT do that yet. Get the numbers and lets do the math first.

    Does it make sense yet?

    Questions?

Something to remember..... front end geometry is not an opinion.......it is a mathematical fact.

It must be measured and done.

LOL its funny I've ended up @ that exact site like So Many Times, from the beginnings of My 3 Wheel Quest,

OK 1st thing There Is Not a motor on my frame right now its at the machine shop, getting a face lift, is the lack of weight going to make a difference?
& 2nd my fork assembly are not mounted on my frame because the neck tube needs cut off & the New one for these frt forks welded on in the right Place & the RIGHT ANGLE for my Fork assembly OK

(Tire Diameter) 25.07 I took the radius of 78.75 divided by 3.14 (pi) ..
But @ yr link you sent me to says should be 25.3 so you decide which 1 & please let me know what made our decision breaker

(Rake) NOTE: this is the wrong neck tube it NEEDS CUT Off
    (Triple Clamp Offset) 1.75
    (Fork Length) 30.5"
(Triple Tree Rake)this one here, I am totally lost on the Correct answer for this one, Seems everyone has a different theory on this subject
    (Frame Height) 13.375
measured from the floor to the bottom of the frame with the frame level with the floor.

Here are some pics also that may help let me know
    Thank You Guys

You must be using an app to view forums with.
    Something like tapatalk.
I tryed it once and did not like it at all. Was neat that it pulled all your post from all the forums and put them in one place.
    But
You never knew where you were at all.
That would explain the multiple same post in one forum.
If so then try going directly to the forum and bookmarking it. That way you can keep up with the postings in a linear time way.

    1st thing.
No for the weight, yes for the ride height.
When you are ready to weld take the tires off and set the back on blocks at ride height and level.

    2nd
We are going to call this one the variable that we dont know and solve for it.

    Tire diameter
Different brands do measure out differently.
Probably not the factory tire. Different brand or size than the factory original specified in the link.

    Rake
Same thing as 2nd thing. See above

    Triple clamp offset.
Solid number. You know for cetain?

    Fork length
Solid number. Axle to end of tube?

    Triple tree rake
This is usually zero. I dont understand how you could possibly measure a good offset number without runnimg into this. This is NOT an opinion point, it is a measurable fact.
Very few bikes have raked trees from the factory.
They are a common aftermarket part especially for motorcycle based trikes.

    Frame height
Looks.like you have lots of room to work with
My frame is 4 inches off the ground, so you can see why it could be an important factor.

The original poster has opted to go with raked trees.
Once the new trees are recieved and measured some more detail to the numbers can be added.
