Lets say, that you want a trike built for you and don't want it to be a boss hoss or a stalion, or like anyone else's trike.
What would you want built for you? And how would you like it to look like with all the bells and whistes, grinn
i am in the mood to build a special trike for a friend, and want to surprise him, but want it to be something special, like no one else has built before,
so here is your chance to build your dream trike, so lets have it, and pics too,lol

Ray: that's kinda like building your perfect woman..how many restarts and do overs would that take? Something to contemplate..Oh, my head is already starting to hurt.

this would be easier than trying to build the perfect woman, don't want to do that, just something simple, so come on,grinn

Ray...this is for a Friend? Think about what that Friend likes, how do they Ride, just short Rides, maybe some 500+ miles Tours...your friend's gonna dictate what goes into this Trike...needs a Trunk, doesn't need one...give us some insight into this person and we can come up with some ideas.

Lol i hear ya,
he wants to take one last long trip from the altlanta area to westcoast to canada and back thru new york and back home,
he is a strange fellow, has always helped people in need and has never asked for nothing in return, he has hinted about a trike that is low, sleek and mean, grinn, probably a small trailer in tow, he will be on this trip alone,
he is justt an old fart, grinn,
something that will blind you in the sunlight as well as the darknest, has to stand out in any crowd, no fancy gadjets on board or whatch you mecallites, just nice running trike,
i figure this will be his last ride, so i want to make it wild, mean and get out of the way of a trike, if you know what i mean,
i have an idea of what to do, but was wanting a little output from you on here, kind of like a everyones trike build, if yo know what i mean
hope this helps, i like the plain porno george trike myself,
grinn

Something like this.:D

Perfect idea Ray - combine a VW trike with a "big wheel trike"..From what I have seen and read about the Big Wheel the large front tire improves the ride and it looks awesome.

zook, you like that blue one, grinn, but it has already been done, need to do something that is not copying,
yep george big wheel in front, grinn

Well I would use the ZOOKS blue trike rear end for sure . The carb stacks look really neat.. This has to have a VW rear engine? Does it have to be only one front wheel or can we go rev trike. I like the rear pick up bed and I like the rear VW body also ,but been done to death . i have see many variations of trike gona be hard to make something different . I always like this one . this is a RUPP only does 45 MPH so improving that to 80 would be a grate trike

It can be anything you want it to be, but sorry no rupps for this project,
zook loves blue and is nice, but i love the brite lime green color myself, grinn, thinking of an watercooled motor, no vw aircooled for this one, we will see, got to look at pics and get an idea of what to build
thanks

Love the Lime Green Idea...Something that'll really Pop! On that long of a trip you'd want to be able to carry some stuff (at least a couple of days of clothes)
maybe some water & snacks. But mostly something that will really catch the eye, day or nite. Several years back I swapped a Grand Prix 3800 Motor into an '87 Fiero Coupe...matched up to the original 5 speed stick Isuzu Trans...she ran like a scalded dog and got 42 MPG. With a Moderate weight Trike ya might want to consider something that'll give him awesome power and kick the MPG in the Butt at the same time. In my short time on TT I've seen some of your work Ray and am confident you'll come up with something Wild and Jaw Dropping!

I have always thought that it might be cool to do a trike based on a WWI fighter, Sopwith Camel, Spad, something along those lines.. build a cowling for the headlight, some body work, painted up like one of the Hat in The Ring squadron. had a great uncle that was a mechanic with them.

That is very pretty, but no way would I want to ride it cross country!
Here is a idea buy a used 1500se,put on a trike kit that has a indepent suspession.
Paint it with some kind of metalflake paint and do some nice pinstriping, also find a nice used trailer and paint it the samey way.
There is all kinds of trike kits out there and all brands of motorcycles and home buit ones and all are very nice, but for a cross country trip like you are talking about nothing is going to beat a 1500 for ride and comfort.
Thats just my opion for what it is worth.
:yes::yes::yes:

I like those low slung trikes but we cannot have them over here. I would have to always take the long way around somewhere due to the sleeping policemen or speed humps. Thay are ruining the vehicles and do not cut my carbon footprint:mad:

Alot of good idea's on here, sorry but the blue is old to me, been used and abused, i am going to go with lime green pearl with gold radiant pearl as an over lay to make this sucker stand out in any crowd, you won't lose it in the parking lot, grinn
been thinking of using a vw passat motor[v6][vw] i have it figured out how to btpass the puter stuff to make it work,
the reason i want to use the passat,[plenty of power and a gas saver too] if need be, parts are available on the road, if needed, grinn, but will not beed any parts for this ride, only petrol and smiles, i am thinking of using something similar to the blue trike, low, sleek and long, going to have rear airbags to adjust for the road,
i want to use the vw autostick trannie for this build, reliable and easy to shift and ride,
but i have looked at a lot of trikes lately for idea's, the brazian trikes are real nice, but awlful heavy in the front end, i need to build something that is equal in weight to ride and handle well,
so if any of you on here can come up with some idea's and pics, will be deeply appreciated.
It will have a small trailer in tow, but got to be lite weight and low in style, alot to to get it started soon,
he will not be around for ever, grinn. Old farts don't die, they just hang out and be a pess, grinn.
Let me know what idea's you have,
ray

There's a BTW member from California -- I THINK -- maybe some of the other BTW members can correct this. He built his to look like the Enterprise from Star Trek & calls it the Star Trike. It's a rear engine of some type -- I didn't get a good look at the last time I saw it. Its amazing what some guys can come up with!
