Trouble finding neutral

Common problem, I just lightly tap on the heal shifter, And it goes in...[Most of the time..]

make sure you have the exact amount of oil in your primary and your clutch is adjusted. If you have the hydraulic non adjustable clutch the primary needs more oil than the adjustable clutch

Changing to real gear oil in the transmission solved my problems. I use Bel-Ray 85W-140. There are many other choices for Harley transmission gear oil. I also use a heel tap from first to get to neutral.

Having a 2014 I use 40 ounces of H-D Formula+ for the primary/clutch.

Lots of good advice.

Could be a combination of many things.

Run some good gear oil in tranny, like redline shockproof

Have the clutch adjusted correctly, and the primary not overfilled, which is commonly done at dealerships. (the clutch dragging from improper adjustment and/or overfilled primary is the most common reason for difficulty in finding neutral)

Use heim joints on shift linkage for more positive input from the foot

When in first, it is usually easier to tap the heel shifter to get to neutral, than to lift the toe shifter.

All due respect to all that gave an opinion here, but there Is not a product available anywhere that will claim It can help you find neutral, oil companies would love to make that claim but they can't, JMHO.

My advise is to stop trying to find neutral with your toe, It's a simple tap with your heal and knowing how much pressure to apply, try this before throwing money at a non existing problem.

Also, a quick throttle blip while attempting to hit N helps.

I'll double check my clutch adjustment.Thanks for the in put. I'am old school and took the heel shifter off the first thing. I'll check the clutch adjustment first.

Plus 1 on the Redline Shockproof. Used that in my CVO Convertible, it worked wonders!

I have never ridden with a heel shifter and I'am 68. So after reading your replies I go put the heel shifter back on and found netural first try now just have to remember "light tap" Thanks for the advice

i meant as the bike became broken in it will loosen up some . every new bike i've had was tight when new.
