Default Fork Braces - Are They Worth It????

My mechanic is telling me that if I added a fork brace to my 1800 trike, I'd notice a huge improvement, especially in the cornering.

How bout it? Have you put them on and what did you notice?

Here's the 4 ones I've found so far:

Kuryakyn, Gen 2 braces, w/ integrated dust covers for $150
Kuryakyn Fork Braces w/ included, but separate dust cover for $225
Crome Billet Superbrace w/ included fork protectors for $165
Traxxion Super Brace w/ separately ordered dust covers $270 (total).

Is there any real differences in the braces or will the cheaper one work as well and the others?

I had a Super Brace from RIVCO on my 2008 Gold Wing 1800 2-wheeler...it helped it a lot in Parking Lots, tight left/right corner transitioning roads (like The Dragon), etc. I'm not really sure I would get any gain on my Raked Gold Wing Trike though. It doesn't seem to have the "walk flex the fork tubes" the stocker Wing 2-wheeler had. If You do this to Yours, I will be VERY interested in Your Ride Report results and opinions, because I have considered it.....:wtg:

I like all of the Super Brace products. Very high quality and effective. They offer a wide variety of items for motorcycles and are expanding their trike products line. As a matter of fact, Chris of American Motorcycle Accessories, Super Brace's Parent Company, visits here on TrikeTalk.com and we have been discussing their new product line and advertising them here on our forum.

Chris and AMA just donated a couple of items for us to use as contest prizes so as soon as I receive them I will be posting some pictures. Thanks to Super Brace (AMA) and Chris! :wtg:
I have used the braces on front ends for trikes before and have helped a lot, but needed them cause the tubes were extended and need them to help them from tweeking, but never used them on a stock frontend before, but i have seen them used on frontends that came from the manufactury that way

My stock, 2-wheel Gold Wing was in "slow motion" in reaction time if the wheel was left or right off center, You waited on the Fork leg and wheel to twist a little, then it responded....very aggravating during slow maneuvers, or tryin' to quickly "flick" tight twisties....the Super Brace cured this.....would like to hear some personal stories about usin' one on an 1800 Gold Wing Trike.....

I'm in the group of trikers that think that there is NO need for any type of fork brace on a raked trike.

For my money a rake kit is the only way to go.
I ride a Harley and before the rake kit the hard curves made me work to get around at the speed I was riding. After the rake kit the hard curves are like the rest of the road. One handed. Wouldn't take for the rake kit.

I have a 6 degree rake and the trike handles great. I was just surprised when my mechanic, who also did the trike conversion, suggested that I get the braces. He claims that he rode a trike that had it done and was amazed at the improvement. Since I'm really happy with the way mine handles already, I was just fishing for some more input from y'all.

I guess you might just give it a try and let us know if there is a difference.

I have a Super Brace on my CSC GL1800. Had it on before the conversion. My trike is raked, and I have never ridden it without the rake or brace.

I have owned several large touring bikes, and I have found that a fork brace is a must for me. I used to ride pretty aggressively and when banging through the curves I could feel the fork flex which effected the handling. I don't ride that way anymore, older I guess, but I still think fork braces on large bikes are a must, at least on the two wheel version.

As for trikes, I'm not sure since I have only ridden one trike with no rake and no brace, and that was for a short distance. It was far enough to convince me to have my raked when I had the conversion done.

My 2cents worth.

Yep, my experience exactly on the Large 2-wheelers....I was hopin' Someone was gonna' chime in with either "I put one on my 1800 Gold Wing Trike, and it made no difference" (I won't have to spend the money...:rolleyes, or "It helped the quick flicking a lot" (I have to fork over more $$$...:rolleyes.....I may bite the bullet in the future, and post up my comparisons....."but".....if there is Anyone out there that has already done this after Trikin' and Rakin' Their 1800 'Wing, by all means feel free to chime in.....

Thanks MC, that is the information I was hoping to hear. :yourock: I'll pass on spending the bucks for the braces.:yay:
