My wife and I just bought a 2011 Spyder RTS SE5. Both of us are short legged and can't just step over the seat to get on it.
Are the foot pegs strong enough to take our weight to use as a step to help us step over the seat to mount up?

Just like using stirrups to get on a horse. Only way to go.

Thanks for all the replies. Somewhere I thought I read that the one on the brake side was a 'break-away' in case you had to really dynamite the breaks in a panic stop.
Didn't really make sense to me, because that would be happening every day to somebody somewhere.

Never heard of that one! I use the pegs to step up on my F3 every time.

You got a 2011 correct? If so you have nothing to worry about. However for you others that like law suits, at least with the 16's and up and maybe even the 15's the brake side does drop down if you have a true panic stop where you are mashing down as hard as you can. Like pushing you foot thru the floorboard kind of thing. Previous models you could only go so far and would get stopped by the floorboard. Many of us added rubber to the top of the brake petal to gain more pressure on panic stops. We had a 12 model now a 16. And for your information it does completely break away but just drops down a little more. I can just see y'all now talking about floorboards that fall off Spyders.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

I use the passenger foot rest to get on the bike. Even if you stood on the right driver foot rest I have not had if drop yet
