Default reverse do You Really need it

it is that hard to just push a trike backwards and live with out a reverse gear?

Can reverse gear be installed without pulling complete tranny? Since I just don't seem to be grow cash on tree I would like to live without reverse for at least first riding season, but don't want to tear bike down to install beyond original build, call me lazy

another question will a Frankenstein trike fit on a lift table if you have the extended side's ?

I'll answer the reverse question IMHO....no I can't live without reverse. I'm addicted to it. So much so, that when the electric reverse goes out once my Tri Glide goes out of warranty, I'll be having a mechanical reverse installed. It costs about the same and is 10 times more dependable.

I'm the opposite of Consitter, I very rarely use my reverse. I am careful where I park so that I can either pull straight out or back out just using my legs. That means no parking down hill facing in. It is nice to have in case I make a mistake thinking I can back out; but I don't think it is a must have.

I use mine very rarely also, but there's always that one time when it's nice to have.

My thinking is if you have it, use it. My dad has a remote for his car locks, but uses the key to get in for fear of running down the remote battery. Just don't make no sense to me.

I'm with Dave on this one, too many miles old school always watching the incline and letting it do the work when I get there! Then it's easy to leave!

As far as the installation for reverse, all you pull is the tranny cap on the right side and replace it. Can be done on the bike.

I have a mechanical reverse put in my Tri after playing around with the piss poor electric one!.If you don't mind looking like an old lady riding around a parking lot trying to find that perfect spot so you don't have to push-drag the Trike out 'Then you didn't need reverse..Just my unbiased opinion !

When I had my Gold Wing Cycle I was told to use the reverse sparingly so you don't wear it out. My assumption was that they were expensive to maintain. I actually don't know if that's true or not.

Anyway, with my 2016 Tri-Glide Trike I've had the same mind set. I almost never use the reverse. It's not hard to push the Trike backwards on level pavement.

If my hips, knees or feet begin to have health issues I'll be using reverse more but really.....pushing the thing backwards while in the drivers seat is a piece of cake.

This is just my opinion, but on a light trike I'd go without it.

    Default Reverse

I had my Suzuki C50/Lehman Tramp trike for 9 years, and never had reverse (asked, but was told it wasn't an option for my bike/trike). For reference, I'm about 5'5" barefoot, and weigh less than 150lbs.

On flat ground, moving it was a breeze from the seat. On a very slight incline, I could still back it up with only slight to moderate effort. I only remember needing assistance 2 times to get out of spots - once when I first got it and was just "stupid", and once when I was stuck on wet grass and couldn't get traction with my boots to back up. Otherwise, I was just careful where/how I parked.

I don't need it, but I sure do use it a lot.

bum right foot makes it a bit difficult to back up the Tri-Glide without reverse.

Sometimes it is difficult to find parking that does not necessitate backing up.

Most of the time it is easier to just park where/how I want and use the reverse.

I use my reverse almost every time we're out riding and have never had the breaker pop, even backing up some small inclines. I better knock on wood now that I've said that, lol.
