Suzie your photos are fantastic. What a place to travel to. I like going in a small convoy as well, the travelling can be all part of the fun.
I do hope all of you are not too saddle sore!!!
We just returned from a 5,780 mile ride from Northern California to Hyder, Alaska with the ride home via Jasper National Park, Alberta.
All roads in British Columbia were NICE - and very little construction.
Hyder has all dirt roads and when we were there last week you couldn't ride up to the glacier. We stayed at the Sealaska - not a recommendation, just a statement of fact.
After leaving Hyder we headed east to Jasper National Park. East of Prince George traffic is heavier. On entering Alberta the roads are not in as good a condition.
If you are going - plan on making reservations ahead of time in Jasper. EXPENSIVE and in short supply. We stayed at the Mount Robson Inn for ONLY $124 a night the other places started at $162.
As we departed Jasper we headed south on Hwy 93 into Banff National Park and the Columbia Icefields.
All of the scenery was WOW - hard to say what was the best because it the magnificence of the total awesome.
The price of everything in Canada is HIGH. Plan on spending lots of money.
On returning to the US we rode a portion of the Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park because there was 70 ft of snow at the top.
We rode Beartooth Pass north to south. We rode Chief Joseph Highway to Cody, WY - AWESOME.
We split up our group of 4 bikes/trikes in Riverton, WY. We headed to Nebraska for a family visit. The other two riders headed home to NM - and didn't make it. One of the riders went down south of Rangely, Colorado and is currently in ICU in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The weather - wet and chilly all the way north to Alaska. On arriving in Hyder it was lovely, sunny and warm. On leaving Hyder it was chilly. It continued chilly and wet to Jasper and south to the Montana border. After re-entering the US the weather improved and continued to warm up and stay dry for the remainder of the ride.
Did I mention I LOVE MY HEATED GEAR and my Frogg Toggs!
Here is a tip: DO NOT TRY TO BE FUNNY at the border. These people have zero sense of humor.
If you want the whole scoop on the ride there is a blog: http://hyder2008.blogspot.com/]2008 Ride to Hyder, AK and Beyond

There were more H.D. trikes on the roads in Canada. All in all, there were far more trikes than we have seen in the past.
2003 GL1800 MotorTrike - Pearl Yellow (106,000 miles and riding)
USA-Four Corners Finisher June 2009, 6,401 miles
