    Default max weight / vehicle load

    Hi to all,

    I am considering pullilng the trigger on a 2017 F3-T SE6. Specs list the max weight/vehicle load at 439 lbs or 199kg.

    Since I am buying a CA Am Spyder for riding two up I have a concern - I weigh 200 lbs and the Mrs. weighs 215 lbs so we are at 415 lbs before any gear (which would never be much)

    Here is my Butt Question - pun intended - how will the spyder handle and behave with 215 lbs seated behind the principle driver?

    I don't want to take a chance on bottoming out the system or throwing a passenger's back into a spasm etc...

    Any and all input would be appreciated, and yes, I have politely discussed the need for my co-pilot to address her weight issue, which isn't a good thing to harp on if you want to stay happily married.

    Yup, you have to walk easy on that topic Rudy!

    My sister has an RT. I gave her daughter a ride on it. I'm 220. I know my niece is well over that. I don't recall any adverse handling issues. But my expertise on them is very limited.

    Your a brave man to even discuss that subject with her. I hope someone with more experience close to your situation can add, but I don't think you would have any issues.

    You'll be fine... Also if you didn't know the Spyder has a sensor under the passengers seat that will adjust the handling i.e. The more weight on the seat the more the handling will be adjusted . In Spyder speak it's a Nanny to keep you in-control.

    Hopefully its just a wrap or decal. I do however like the Trump flag he's flying

    Sooner or later it will be up for sale and not many folks would want to buy that with the US flag displayed like it is, myself included UNLESS it was priced right...

    So to get back to the OP's question, yes your Spyder will handle the weight just fine. I weight 260 and my wife is well.........." enough". With our stuff on board I am sure we go over the listed limit. No problems. The biggest limiting factor is what can she handle as far as riding distance,speed, and temperature are concerned. Besides the auto adjust you can also air up the rear manually.

    I have test ridden a couple of R/T's but not a spyder my dealer will not let you test ride their bikes.

    But

    I only intend to have my wife on the bike occasionally and then for only 1-2 hours a day max.

    I don't need a touring set up and upon sitting on the touring models my wife found them confining - squeezed her but and thighs too much.

    plus

    Mobile, Al. is a pretty hot place and the more stuff you have pressing into you on a hot day the more uncomfortable things get.

    You reminded me of sweaty Britches.. I switched seats and found compared to my Harley seats the Ultimate seat was the best purchase ever for my fanny. The seats do make a difference too.

    I am surprised the dealer wont let you test ride one. My area I was able to test the Spyders.

    Well anyway good luck on whatever you decide
